Does your banana have a thick skin?

I remember when bananas had thin skin and were easy to peel. Lately the bananas that I buy have a very thick, pulpy skin.

Am I now getting the fruit from another part of the world? (The thick skinned ones have a label saying, "Product of Ecuador.")

Could this be the result of some climate change and the way that they grow?

Any botanists out there?

5. yeah- I think the organic ones have thinner skin

I suspect it has something to do with needing the bananas to have thicker skin to travel longer distances? Or the type of banana?

That being said the red bananas from Whole Foods have fairly thick skin.
