So the prevailing views in GDP and GD often oppose one another
So why is it the more time I spend in one, the more convinced I am that the people there are deluded, and that those in the other must be sane? Only to reverse my opinion again? I've seen anti-Obama threads so vitriolic they would turn you into a goat. I've seen Obama defenders tie themselves into knots to beat the Gordian.

Maybe I'm just looking at the wrong threads. You know, the ones with the scary flames on the icon from all the replies. Then there are my threads...

:dunce:

3. honestly the incest threads are very interesting. i really didnt think anyone
would see misandry, if a father is prosecuted, but apparently they do. also, i didnt think i would see a defense for father-daughter incest, and i was wrong.

the variance of opinions is certainly interesting

5. The thing I find most interesting about the incest threads is the

apparent assumption that consensual father/daughter sex just sprang up from out of nowhere the minute the daughter was of legal age. It's as if the two had a normal, sane father/daughter relationship for 18 years, and then as soon as the woman was legal the father said "hey, wanna get it on?" and the daughter said 'sure do, daddy!" :eyes:

Do they not see how this woman was almost certainly groomed from a young age to tolerate questionable boundaries in her relationship with her father? THAT is the power imbalance which makes the whole thing non-consensual. Normal people with normal appropriate parent/child relationships DO NOT suddenly start having sexual intercourse when the child turns 18.

I don't know if it's a criminal matter once the child becomes an adult. Maybe not. But defense of the sexual relationship is really strong here, and that's just bizarre. Only on DU, I guess.

9. There are two people on DU in regards to Obama
Those who see Obama as the lesser evil that will always be the better alternative to a repug. And those that are too blinded to see a republican presidency is going to be FAR worse than Obama ever could.
