3. Oh, Alice was influential enough...in the same way that Eddie Van Halen was influential enough. |
|
Both of them spawned legions of acolytes who were so far below their level of creativity that it almost made you forget how good they were to begin with.
Alice had the "shock rock" offspring and Eddie gave birth to the "shredder" school of speed-obsessed weenies.
But in the early 1970s, when the ORIGINAL Alice Cooper band cranked out albums like "Love It To Death" and "Killer," they were most certainly influential. Their albums were events, until they eventually fizzled out with their final album "Muscle of Love" and Vince kept the name and went in his own more commercial direction. The ORIGINAL band belongs in the Hall of Fame.

:toast: and I saw Alice Cooper several times in the early days. The first time I saw them, I was amazed with the theatrics - hadn't seen group before do that on stage.

If people like him, fine, but he never seemed like Rock and Roll to me. More tin pan alley pop.

13. Well, yeah, but so many of us love him. |
|
When I got Hot August Night I heard the very first inkling of his ability to do rock & roll if he wanted to, but it's not so much his style. I know some men love him too but they won't admit it, but you got three generations of women in love with him and he's getting up there and still knocking 'em dead -- and he DOES write his own stuff . . . BTW I can't wait to get that new album I seen of him singing his favorite songs by OTHER PEOPLE too~~~~~~~~~~~
You can write, AND you got a killer voice, AND you're the hottest looking thing on the planet (when he was young, but not so bad now either . . . )
; ) I think he belongs there. ( And yes, Neil, it's NICE to get in while you're still alive ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ! )

15. Unfortunately, this is what the future of the R&RHOF looks like.... |
|
All of the shoo-ins are already in so all we've got left are mediocre people who never would have gotten in 10 years ago and don't hold a candle to most of the acts in the HOF, so as more and more shit bands get in it cheapens the whole thing. seriously imagine in 5 more years, who could they possibly induct as being influential or innovative? Maybe Radiohead, Nirvana will get in, Pearl Jam just for still being together, who else? I can't even think of who else really deserves to be there.

16. As a child of the 80s the influential bands were... |
|
and these are not all my favorites, but Mike Jackson, Prince, Kiss, AC/DC, Husker Du, Sonic Youth, Black Flag, pick some hair metal band like Bon Jovi....Pixies, Nirvana, REM...
Actually the idea of a hall of fame is just a terrible idea but when someone is giving you a firehose of money it is hard to turn down. I am sure some of the above bands are in already but who cares?
