So did you hear the one about the 4th-story window?
A husband was sure his wife was cheating. He decided to trap her by calling home one afternoon to say he wouldn't be home until midnight.

Early that evening he came home to the apartment and saw the dining room table set for two. "Aha," he shouted, "I've caught you!" He dashed from room to room, opening closets, looking under beds. Finally, he ran to the balcony, looked down and saw a man leaving the building, straightening his tie. In a rage, he threw a nearby refrigerator over the balcony. It crushed the man below to death.

The scene shifts to the Pearly Gates, where St. Peter is interviewing two prospects. Asked what brought him here, the first replies he was leaving his apartment building when a refrigerator fell on him. St. Peter grants him admission. The second candidate says: "St. Peter, I know you are not going to believe me, but there I was sitting in this refrigerator …"

4. That Joke is just awful
Think of all the CFCs released from that ice box that are going to destroy the Ozone Hole.

5. If CFCs
destroy the ozone hole, then maybe we need to drop more refrigerators on more people :P

6. When I first heard that joke, we didn't use the word refrigerator, we called it 'the ice box'
The refrigerator was an 'ice box' or a 'Frigidaire' and people didn't even know what an ozone hole was. My dad told me (many years ago) he had heard that joke when he was a kid, and he knew families that had ice delivered to their houses to put in real 'ice boxes'.

7. My parents can tell similar stories :)
People didn't know about the ozone hole, either, until the 1980s. "Refrigerator" was in common use by then, and "ice box" going out of the vocabulary. But it also depends on where you live. "Fridge" is still the most common around here :)
