Post your theme song!!
I'm sure this has probably been done before, but what the hell. What's your theme song, that one song that describes you to a tee?

This one is mine :silly:

3. This was LITERALLY my theme song for my comedy/novelty radio show...
Edited on Wed Dec-15-10 11:14 PM by MiddleFingerMom
.
.
.
.
.
I would open every week with the first minute (stopping RIGHT after, "But being French... you are quickly bored.")
.
I would segue quickly and smoothly into the first song/bit of the night.
.
.
.
.
I would end every show with the last minute or so of the song (starting with, "You find yourself falling down
the semi-otic water slide.")
.
.
.
.
The artist is John Forster. The album is Helium. It was probably my FAVORITE album to use on the show --
filled with one gem after another.
.
.
.
"The Tragic Kingdom"

...and you can find the CD ("Helium") on Amazon.com (among other places)
.
http://www.amazon.com/Helium-John-Forster/dp/B0000003WV
.
.
.
I couldn't have found a better theme song to use on my show if I HAD written it.
The intro and outro segments were perfect for my purposes and intentions.
.
(HONEST, those intentions were honorable!!!)
.
.
.
I lost my show after getting into station politics (fighting against the corporatization
of community radio). I absolutely LOVED doing what I was doing (helping people laugh...
and some of the very sad but wonderful calls I got showed me how important that can
be). It was strictly a volunteer gig -- but (on top of working fulltime at my job that paid
the bills) I put in a good 20 hours a week to prepare and produce a one-hour weekly show.
.
.
.
I considered it my REAL job.
.
In a way, I kinda work as a therapist (and I get to laugh a lot along the way myself --
so it's a great "Physician, heal thyself" type of "job").
.
.
.
.
.
.
There you go.
.
.
.
Some insight to partially explain WHY I do what I do.
.
.
.
Besides it being fun-fun-FUN!!!!

5. Lyric told me that this one HAD to have been written for me... She could be right!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvGP0QIS9GM

Mama said slow down
But I was goin' to fast to listen
Said what goes 'round comes around
But only time could get my attention

But as I look back now
Over advice we were given
I can't help wonderin how
It is that I'm still livin'

I had some wild friends
We did some crazy things
We'd get some long late hours
We dared the lightnin'
We took it to the edge
Runnin' full speed ahead
We laid our lives on the line
We dared the lightnin'

Really blows my mind
I don't know how did I survive
And still I go back from time to time
Visit others by their grave site
Wish momma had lived to see
Now I have kids of my own
She'd be laughin' at me
But momma never cast a stone

It was like playin Russian Roulette
Always braggin' and bluffin'
Racin 'round and dodgin' bullets
We never stopped at nothin'

I had some wild friends
We did some crazy things
We'd get some long late hours
We dared the lightnin'
We took it to the edge
Runnin' full speed ahead
We laid our lives on the line
We dared the lightnin'
We laid our lives on the line

We dared the lightnin'(6x)

9. "Dust In The Wind"
I suppose that this is one of the most depressing songs ever written. However, I identify with it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hzv0TSSDgU&feature=related

I close my eyes, only for a moment, and the moment's gone
All my dreams, pass before my eyes, a curiosity
Dust in the wind, all they are is dust in the wind
Same old song, just a drop of water in an endless sea
All we do, crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see

Dust in the wind, All we are is dust in the wind

Don't hang on, nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky
It slips away, all your money won't another minute buy

Dust in the wind, All we are is dust in the wind

27. I'd give anything for it to not be the truth, but can't undo the past
Best you can do is try to learn from it and not repeat the mistakes.
But I've been doing better; thanks for asking----- hit yet another rock bottom a couple of months ago (been fighting a mostly losing battle with depression this year) and there's been nowhere to go but up, and decided that direction was the only option left, and so have been going in that only direction left. So I suppose these Springsteen songs could be theme songs now too:

Let the broken hearts stand as the price you gotta pay...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhahV_6uhFs

and

The dogs on Main Street howl ,'cause they understand...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lPzWPXhbVI

and Tom Petty too:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUTXb-ga1fo

P.S. I hope your resurrection of the pickup truck project was successful ,and 15 Days Under the Hood is no longer your theme song.

19. This was mine for a long time:
(sorry - I can't post video links at work)

Billy Joel - I Go To Extremes:

Call me a joker, call me a fool
Right at this moment I'm totally cool
Clear as a crystal, sharp as a knife
I feel like I'm in the prime of my life
Sometimes it feels like I'm going too fast
I don't know how long this feeling will last
Maybe it's only tonight

Darling I don't know why I got to extremes
Too high or too low there ain't no in-betweens
And if I stand or I fall
It's all or nothing at all
Darling I don't know why I got to extremes

Sometimes I'm tired, sometimes I'm shot
Sometimes I don't know how much more I've got
Maybe I'm headed over the hill
Maybe I've set myself up for the kill
Tell me how much do you think you can take
Until the heart in you is starting to break?
Sometimes it feels like it will

Darling I don't know why I go to extremes
Too high or too low there ain't no in-betweens
You can be sure when I'm gone
I won't be out there too long
Darling I don't know why I got to extremes

Out of the darkness, into the light
Leaving the scene of the crime
Either I'm wrong or I'm perfectly right every time
Sometimes I lie awake, night after night
Coming apart at the seams
Eager to please, ready to fight
Why do I go to extremes?

And if I stand or I fall
It's all or nothing at all

Darling I don't know why I go to extremes
Too high or too low there ain't no in-betweens
And if I stand of I fall
It's all or nothing at all
Darling I don't know why I go to extremes

No I don't know why I go to extremes
Too high or too low there ain't no in-betweens
You can be sure when I'm gone
I won't be out there too long
Darling I don't know why I go to extremes

25. I saw them live in 1972... and they were simultaneously the WORST fucking garage band ever...
.
.
.
...and the most raucous, wild, crowdfrenzy-causing musicians there might ever be.
.
.
.
It was an all-day outdoor concert (Goose Creek Festival in Michigan) and, different
from Security pushing the dancer off the stage in this clip, they called for people
to come onstage with them towards the end -- it was shoulder-to-shoulder energy
and mayhem. The promoter came onstage, grabbed the mike from the singer and told
the crowd if they didn't get off the stage IMMEDIATELY, they were going to shut it
all down.
.
The singer grabbed back the mike and said, "FUCK HIM!!! It's OUR show now!!!"
.
They were the house band for the White Panther Party -- not a racist but a Leftist
anarchist revolutionary group -- and did a lot of benefits for that group's leader,
John Sinclair -- who was considered by many to be a blatant political prisoner,
sentenced to 10 years in prison for possession of two joints.
.
I remember the night he was released after MUCH effort to get him freed -- it was a
MAJOR regional live news event. On his way to the car waiting to take him home, a
reporter asked, "John, what are you going to do first -- now that you're free after
so many years?"
.
His answer? It sure as hell wasn't, "I'm going to Disneyland" but "I'm going to walk
in the door and fire up a fucking joint." His attorney bundled him up and hustled him
into the waiting car.
.
.
GEEEZZZZ... sometimes I really miss those days.
.
.
.
This live version gives you a LITTLE better idea of what they were like.

This was a top 40 hit by Paula Cole, but I thought this a good cover, though it is a bit lengthier than I recall.

and these two do for burning of some angst about the challenges this contemporary society faces.

Gut Pageant - Kristin Hersh

That fine fever brought us here
Lambasted eyeballs
When we kiss the dirt
The orchids laugh
What a gut pageant
We could play for hours
What a gut pageant
Meat for the flowers
You break out of a paper bag
And wake up on the street
Just kidding
You don't have to go
I asked him why the grass is blue
And stray boys don't go home
Why four a.m's so screwy
He says " Sleep through it "
What a gut pageant
We could play for hours
What a gut pageant
Meat for the flowers
Not too special not too strange
Just the way I like 'em
You find an empty promise and stick by it
Not too pretty, not too sweet
Just the way I like you
When you kiss the dirt
The orchids laugh, harder than me
Tell me another one
I could sit for hours
When anyone laughs
I know I'm a coward
What a gut pageant
We could play for hours
When we kiss the dirt
The orchids laugh, harder than me.

EDIT: Can't post without typos tonight.

35. It's My Life
Edited on Thu Dec-16-10 11:05 PM by CraftyGal
Bon Jovi - It's My Life (Live In Chicago 2007)

Songwriters: Bon Jovi, Jon; Martin, Max; Sambora, Richard S;
Bon Jovi's It's My Life

This ain't a song for the brokenhearted
No silent prayer for the faith departed
And I ain't gonna be just a face in the crowd
You're gonna hear my voice when I shout it out loud

It's my life
It's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just wanna live while I'm alive

(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said, "I did it my way"
I just wanna live while I'm alive
'Cause it's my life

This is for the ones who stood their ground
For Tommy and Gina who never backed down
Tomorrow's getting harder, make no mistake
Luck ain't even lucky, gotta make your own breaks

It's my life
And it's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just wanna live while I'm alive

(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said, "I did it my way"
I just wanna live while I'm alive
'Cause it's my life

You better stand tall
When they're calling you out
Don't bend, don't break
Baby, don't back down

It's my life
It's now or never
'Cause I ain't gonna live forever
I just wanna live while I'm alive

(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said, "I did it my way"
I just wanna live while I'm alive

(It's my life)
And it's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just wanna live while I'm alive

(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said, "I did it my way"
I just wanna live while I'm alive
'Cause it's my life!

36. What I Am
Must be my theme song....in my sig line.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDl3bdE3YQA

I'm not aware of too many things
I know what I know, if you know what I mean
Philosophy is the talk on a cereal box
Religion is the smile on a dog
I'm not aware of too many things
I know what I know, if you know what I mean, do ya?

Choke me in the shallow water
Before I get too deep

What I am is what I am
Are you what you are or what?
What I am is what I am
Are you what you are or

Oh, I'm not aware of too many things
I know what I know, if you know what I mean
Philosophy is a walk on the slippery rocks
Religion is a light in the fog
I'm not aware of too many things
I know what I know, if you know what I mean, do ya?

Choke me in the shallow water
Before I get too deep

What I am is what I am
You what you are or what?
What I am is what I am
You what you are or what?

What I am is what I am
Are you what you are or what?
What I am is what I am
Are you what you are or what you are and

What I am is what I am
Are you what you are or what?

Don't let me get too deep
Don't let me get too deep
Don't let me get too deep
Don't let me get too deep

Choke me in the shallow water
Before I get too deep
Choke me in the shallow water
Before I get too deep

peace~

Send "Creep" Ringtones to Cell

When you were here before,
Couldn't look you in the eye
You're just like an angel,
Your skin makes me cry

You float like a feather
In a beautiful world
I wish I was special
You're so fuckin' special

But I'm a creep,
I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doin' here?
I don't belong here

I don't care if it hurts,
I wanna have control
I want a perfect body
I want a perfect soul

I want you to notice
when I'm not around
You're so fuckin' special
I wish I was special

But I'm a creep
I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doin' here?
I don't belong here, ohhhh, ohhhh

She's running out again
She's running out
She run run run run...
run... run...

Whatever makes you happy
Whatever you want
You're so fuckin' special
I wish I was special

But I'm a creep,
I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doin' here?
I don't belong here

I don't belong here...
