What's a good brand of crude heavy olive oil? |
|
I don't want the "extra virgin" stuff; I want something that will solidify like butter when refrigerated
I've had some nice heavy olive oil on toast and think it's pretty good -- but the extra virgin stuff just re-liquefies on warm bread

I don't think you'll find what you want. The closest thing is crude pomace olive oil, which is made from the olive pulp left over after the first (virgin) pressing. It isn't any thicker, it's just lower quality. It doesn't taste as good.
Heavy olive oil? I admit I am only 48 but I've never seen it.

7. "Goya" brand or any Spanish olive oil marked "Puro" |
|
They make virgin as well, the Aceite Puro is what you're looking for.
As far as oil on toast goes, I love coconut oil on toast and it has the consistency of butter/margarine and a lot of supposed health bennies...

It has a lot of health benefits and nutrients but it also packs in the low-density saturated fats.

10. It's worked miracles for my "gardener's hands" |
|
Used topically, I put it on with cotton gloves in the morning it's like having new hands! I used to do that with olive oil but had better results with the coconut oil plus, it smells kind of beachy and yummy. Def sparringly on the toast though but I don't think you'd want to use tons of it, it has a pretty distinctive/rich taste, I think it's yummy though!

12. For heavy crude oil I prefer BP Gulf of Mexico brand. |
|
It does wonders with shrimp.
