Very important - request for facebook users

Travis is a friend of my daughters. Some individual has made this hate page on facebook against him using a photo of him with his niece. She states on the page that Travis is a known homosexual and that the girl he is with is not safe. HUH?????

Please use the report link at the lower left of the page and get facebook to remove the page. It gives options for the report, I clicked on hate page based on gender or orientation.

The girl that made the site does not even know Travis. She made it in retaliation for a comment he left (his opinion of something that happened in Florida that the girls father was involved in) on a news article.

She went to the trouble of looking him up on facebook and then creating this page about him because she didnt like the comment.

this is for a good cause and I am sure it will be fine

I got into some trouble a while back for posting a link a publicly available page that in turn had links to participants' personal pages and that was considered to be posting private info.

sort of like if a phone number is in the book and easy to find, you are still not allowed to post that here.

I can sort of see it, but on the other hand there is no real privacy on the internet and expectations of it are kind of foolhardy, really.

Obviously the person who created the page is not only a hate-filled homophobe but an ignorant cretin as well.

has Travis alerted on the group? That's more important because that alert requires the poster to affirm their allegations (put-up or shut-up, basically.)...it carries a greater weight than all of our alerts combined. (Just the nature of how the alert system works on Facebook.)

Also, who took the picture? If that person reports and hits the intellectual property link in the report page...that's a world of pain for this poster. Facebook will potentially nuke her account; they don't f**k around on IP claims because it's a good way to end up having to pay for copyright violations for facilitating infringement. (In this case, the onus lies with the poster to establish fair use and she basically hasn't nor can.)

he is the one that told my daughter to do the same and to get as many alerts as possible.

So, I guess you are saying his report carries more weight? Is there something else he should do?

The pictures came from his own profile page, before he made that private after this group was created.
