There's a little white dog running around the terminal here.
I'm not sure what breed he is, but his tail and ears have been clipped like they do with some pure breds. He looks like a large Westy with longer legs. He's been here at least since last night. I think he's been abandoned. I set out some food for him this morning and he ate it, but he won't let me get close to him. I don't know what he's doing for water. He doesn't seem to want to leave the terminal even though the gate to the place is wide open. That leads me to believe a trucker has abandoned him. I hate it when people do that. There are no houses close to here, so I don't think he's a stray. I wish I could adopt him for a short time to find a good home for him.

1. What kind of 'terminal'?
Is there a rescue org in your area you can call?

2. A trucking terminal
I'm in Dallas and I'm not from around here so I don't know about any rescue organizations.

3. Where is "here"?
I can do some digging and try to find an org to help. I take it you won't be around long? (And can't take him with you?)

4. I said I'm in Dallas
And I also said I can't catch him. If I could he'd be in my truck right now.

5. Sorry - figured Dallas was kind of big
Don't think it'll do me a lot of good to find a rescue group and tell them there's a little white dog running around some trucking terminal somewhere in Dallas...

6. Post your address if you don't mind
If you find a rescue organization that will come out and get him, post the number and I'll give them a call.

9. Phone numbers here
Edited on Fri Dec-17-10 04:08 PM by lukasahero
Of course, I can't guarantee any of them will be close enough to help but here you go - phone numbers of rescue groups in Dallas if you want to make the calls.

SPCA of Texas - Lone Star Campus in Dallas: (214) 742-7722
Humane Society of Dallas County: (214) 350-7387

7. Poor baby

This just breaks my heart. Perhaps it would help to run an ad or have one of the local TV stations do a story on him, just in case he escaped from owners who are searching for him.

Please keep us posted.

Edit to add: I live in KS or I'd be there in a flash to adopt him.

8. You need to call 3-1-1
Edited on Fri Dec-17-10 03:29 PM by ceile
All large TX cities have a 3-1-1 non-emergency info service. They can send animal control out to pick him up. Not ideal, I know, but at least they can take him to the local shelter and scan for a chip. And feed and water him. Keep us posted.

10. Animal control may not be ideal, but it's better than being out alone, hungry,
thirsty, cold and in a dangerous environment. Also, if he is lost, he may have been reported to animal control or his people might check with them to see if he's been picked up.

12. I hope another trucker didn't lose his buddy, but couldn't stay any longer.
But if he was abandoned, I hope all that jerk's teeth fall out of his head.

14. Rescue him.
I love dogs (and cats, and everything)

He is bekoning you to bring him into your life. He knows you need him. There are no coincidences with animals.
