Happy Festivus!! Who wants to air some grievances?
I hate, hate, hate people who rake their leaves in the street.

Those piles are deathtraps this time of year for cyclists.

And why the hell do they rake their leaves in late November / early December when there's limited daylight and visibility.

Makes for very hazardous conditions on my way to and from work.

Who are you pissed off at today?

3. My safety is not trivial
But since you're too much of a lazy fuck to get on a bike, you wouldn't appreciate how annoying those piles are.

You just made my list.

8. Maybe the god damn leaves shouldn't be in the street
Suppose you're doing about 25 mph at rush hour.

Sometimes it's not too safe to swerve to the left suddenly because some asshole doesn't know what to do with their god damn leaves.

11. You can't smoke on the bus, dumbass
Besides, I'd have to walk from my house to the bus stop, then from the bus to my place of employment.

It would be more effort than biking and take three times as long.

12. Sheesh. Now I know why you have problems with leaves. Everytime
you go by, you start a fire storm with your cigarette! Smoking is going to kill you.

14. You really don't know a god damn thing about biking do you?
The cigarette is held in the left hand.

And ashes or embers fall harmlessly into the street.

The leaves are on the right side.

My problem with leaves is, aw forget it. You wouldn't understand.

20. Do you realize how many people you are killing with your second hand bicycle smoke?
:wtf: is wrong with you?

First, you can't navigate around a pile of leaves. Second, you end up torching the pile of leaves. Third, you are a killing people with your second hand cigarette smoking.

Maybe you should just your piehole, Francis, and stop smoking and biking.

You'll end up as someone's hood ornament and finally shut the fuck up.

28. Why the fuck would I put a bunch of leaves in my car, or if I had one, in my truck.
I leave that for the city workers (union employees, no less).

Maybe you just need to shut your fucking pie-hole, Francis!

:P

9. Just because I sit near the Admin Assistant does NOT mean I am one too
I don't know where she hides the keys for all the manager's offices.
I don't have access to the supplies.
I don't know her schedule.
I don't know her boss schedule.
I don't know how to setup mailbox functions.

Believe it or not I probably have an important job just like the person bugging me and yet because of my close proximately to her desk people assume I must be her backup. Mind you there are 4 other people sitting near by, all of them men. But no, they bug me.

:grr:

17. You are right. There is no reason to put lawn crap in the street.
It's a hazard, pure and simple.

Who am I pissed off at today?

Mostly drivers and anyone else out there who doesn't have a good awareness of their surroundings.

And who endanger the public at large due to their very existence.

They have become a nuisance. And a danger

And are in the way.

They grow in numbers by the day.

22. I find static electricity utterly irritating
Every winter this shit comes out of nowhere and makes my hair look weird. And my dog's fur.
And it makes painful little zaps whenever you touch anything.
And when my hair gets weird, it gets caught in the zipper of my jacket. I really hate that.
Why doesn't static electricity just go the hell away and stay away?
I ask you.

24. I think I need a bicycle.
Edited on Fri Dec-17-10 09:36 PM by Kali
my petty grievances are all about the motor vehicles

started the year with 3 running vehicles, car died in July and van croaked in October

December 1, clutch kills truck (son on way home after dark, 4 miles or so from house good neighbor rescues)
December 2, truck towed to town for diagnosis/repairs, husband gets yellow truck running
December 5 and 6 yellow truck will not start early in morning, does OK later son needs ride to work
December 8 yellow truck to shop, main truck back $750 towing from the 2nd included/free
December 11, flat tire for Kali back on the neighbors pasture, jack doesn't work had to call tow truck to change 2 tires (spare doesn't fit on front)
December 12, 2 cans flat fixit, attempting to "create" a spare tire $12, no success
December 13, spare tire loses tread on son's way home - back to town for night and new (used) tires the next day
December 14 son tries to pick up the truck and something wrong
December 15 truck makes it back to house but something is wrong
December 16 husband finds carrier bearing gone, creep to town pay for tires $160, yellow truck starts leaking while husband and mech are looking at it
December 17, morning - new driveline carrier bearing installed $260, "towing" from the 11th $75 (may get back from ins)
December 17, afternoon - can't pull trailer on pavement over 25 mph some kind of MEGA shimmy thing going on

what is next?

the big grievances are too serious for the lounge

flooded my basement today. While I was down there screaming obscenities and attempting to clean up the mess, my phone fell out of my pocket and landed in the water and now it's not working.

26. I can't stand leaf-blowers and the people that use them.
What the fuck happened to the rake? Why can't people use that silent tool and get a little exercise, too. And since they're just going to blow the leaves and lawn debris into the road anyway, why not rake it there and let the torrential storms send it all down the sewers to clog them and back up into the roadways and flood their wannabe Lexus SUVs as they're running cyclists off the road whilst they make sure Buffy knows they just left the driveway and will be texting again at the corner and every mile after that?

31. I hate bike lanes that are in the middle of the road. You know the ones that
have painted white lines about 3 feet apart. I can't stand them. I'm driving lots now, I've never actually come across a person on a bicycle in that spot but just the thought of a bike in the middle of traffic drives me nuts.

get what I can mulched with the lawnmower and the rest get blown into the center of the street for proper crushing by the cars driving by.

Growing up we would aim for "the deathtrap of leaves"
