Poll question: Movie you ABSOLUTELY love this time of year.
What the heck it's Friday and I'm bored.

So let's do the flip side.

1. Miracle On 34th Street (1947)
I know it's shown mostly aroung Thanksgiving Day
because of the Macy's Parade in the beginning but
it's one of my favorite Christmas movies.

4. In this order: Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Story, It's A Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street,
The Polar Express (just got done), The Muppet Christmas Carol, The Alastair Sim Christmas Carol, The Preachers Wife (the Bishop's Wife remake), and (trust me..it's just us) I'll Be Home For Christmas (a fun movie with Jonathon Taylor Thomas from "Home Improvement")

5. Gotta go with "Christmas Vacation" too
"SQUIRREL!!"

"You couldn't hear a dump truck driving through a nitroglycerine plant."

"It's a bit nipply out."

So many great quotes. Yep, "Christmas Vacation" has even overtaken "Rudolph".

23. I choose "A Christmas Carol"
The one w/ Allister Simms (sp?), which I love and is part of our family tradition but that is only because you didn't offer the choice of 'It's A Wonderful Life'. Fun poll overall though!

I almost picked 'A Christmas Story' because I SO much enjoy that too, but it works just as well around Thanksgiving-time, so instead 'Christmas Carol' won out w/me. :-)

I also like "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" - although that's set around Thanksgiving the story certainly resonates for the winter holiday's too.

Oh and since the question was "..this time of year." I'll include New Years Eve - not a movie but it's got to be 3 Stooges Marathon :) it's a tradition for my son and I.

I just saw A Christmas Story for the first time tonight. I always see people on DU raving about how much they like it and I got curious. I don't get why people like it so much. I didn't particularly like it. Neither did my friend.

52. Alistair Sims, best of them all in my opinion.
I always miss it on TV before Xmas. Networks seem to feel we need to see Xmas movies in November.

I think I am getting a copy of this 1938 classic as a Christmas gift. Happy about that.
