Christmas preparations progress reports: Post yours here!
Biggest job-- got the tree up today. Hooray! Finished most of the other little "stuff" (candles, etc.) that go in the other rooms.

All I have left to do is to write cards tomorrow and wrap gifts. Plus a little more decorating that I was too tired to do today.

So far the puppy isn't bothering anything, although I did find some of a chewed-up fake holly garland in her room! She's so funny!

1. Gone an hour and a half; dictionary chewed up!
Not that we used it. It was an old one of my husband's. The dogs have been sleeping all day as usual because it's been cold and rainy. The other day, I ran some errands and found the lab, it's ALWAYS the lab, with a pile of "book" on her pillow when I got home.

Other than that, we finished the inside decorating yesterday. We've been behind this year. :)

Today, I'll finish up outside since the weather is finally cooperating. We have lights on the house, but they haven't been hooked up yet.

I've got wrapping to do and I need to make my grocery list for the week. Gonna bake cookies just about every day this week except Friday. LOVE this part of the holiday!

:toast:

2. Tree purchased last weekend and decorated by Tuesday
Other decorations up as well. Most presents bought (but not wrapped).

Went back to the tree farm today with my brother and his family who came in from California (they love the "northeastern Christmas" stuff) to get a tree for my mom's house. What a difference between last week and this at the tree farm. Like a ghost town today.

Heading out to the "big" (fancy) mall tomorrow with the Cali crew for the last presents. Buying Christmas Eve dinner fixins on Wednesday or Thursday.

As long as MG Jr. can hold off the various rampant illnesses at school for the rest of the week, we good. :hi:

3. I'm way ahead for the first time ever
Presents bought - check
Decorating done - check
Cards written (not yet mailed) - check
Invitations to New Year's open house (sent) - check
Song and slide show for my mother (don't ask) - check
Cookies - baking
Wrapping is all I have left to do and I've got a week left to do it! :woohoo:

My pup has been pretty good about the tree this year (it's her third so she should be getting the hang of it) but I have to put the "snow" behind a gate or she will redecorate with it. And we have had to move our baskets of glass bulbs because she showed up in the basement with one in her mouth the other day. :wow: I'm proud to report Bella has now without question learned to obey the "drop it" command. :headbang:

5. ok
Well, the tree is up, most of the decorating is done, I still have some Christmas cards to write and I even did some baking already. (cherry-chocolate shortbread, cranberry oatmeal and peanut butter blossoms.) I still have nut breads to do, though for some friends and work colleagues. And most of my Christmas shopping is done with just a few things to get. So I'm actually a bit ahead of schedule for a change.

Thank goodness for Amazon.

6. I still need to wrap and bake
As well as finishing off my shopping for people I do not want to shop for.

I got into a huge fight with my mom about the holidays (all of them) yesterday because I am sick of spending them with my sister and BIL (who I don't get along with). I'd rather spend them with extended family and she does not understand it at all (my extended family actually gives a shit about me).

I just wish this was all goddamn over at this point.

7. oh hell
I'm trying to be resolute and not do ANYTHING, but I noticed when I was driving around checking fence and cows that I found a small juniper branch and then I picked some mistletoe. :wtf:

I SWEAR the branch is for my sister to take up to my father, same with the mistletoe.

8. Line tree in house, not decorated
Have not bought a single present. Check in with my mid-day 24Dec. That is when I get started.
