Man those boys made some good music. Very cool drum solo from Kenny Jones starting at about 4:10.

Rare Earth - (I Know) I'm Losing You

Personal backstory on this song - first time I listened to it was while I was reading Lord of the Rings for the first time. I got to the section where Gandalf and the Balrog drop into the abyss while this song was playing. Those two things are forever linked in my mind.

4. Lot's of versions of this tune, Rare Earth's has a great vibe.
Cool backstory! Thinking about that passage in LOTR I can imagine how it reading it and hearing that tune in the background would fit perfectly.

My cool backstory for a song was the time I wrecked a van with War Pigs playing in the eight-track. Steam coming of the engine (inside the cab on a '65 Dodge), the van on it's side, and War Pigs blaring as we dragged ourselves out the back doors. Very surreal.

6. I can picture your scene with the '65 Dodge van
Hubby owned one about the same vintage when we got married. Having the engine in the compartment with us always freaked me out. Oh, man, eight tracks.

Boy, do those date us old fogeys! A friend of ours got a beautifully maintained RV a while back that had an eight track setup in it in perfect condition. He found a rig to record eight track tapes and made his own copies of newer music. Talk about a complete space out to hear something that should never be heard in that format coming out of that old deck!

5. Glad you liked it.
The intro they worked up is one of my all time favorites. :)
