Everytime I go there I am in awe of how much stuff is overpriced. For instance.....

http://www.alficarafes.com/Juwel-Carafe-Chrome-Plated-Brass-1-0-L-plu7100000061.html

They were selling that for $800!! I mean, What the FUCK?! A coffee press was a hundred bucks for a plastic one.... thermoses for $900. It makes no sense. A coffee Carafe is the same cost as a fucking washing machine there. What are these people up to?

4. That's the thing, I can get a perfectly good thermos for $20 US
And Chinese people ain't known for springing on things like this, aside from a few rich ones. So, I can't figure out where this mall plans to make it's money.

10. I think it's a delusional mall owner
We are close to Beijing's biggest financial street. The owner must assume some high rollers are gonna come in. Even then, they'd have to be stupid AND rich.

11. is anybody ever in there?
It does seem a pretty extreme mark-up from the item you posted - even that was more than I'd ever pay for a freaking coffee thermos, though it did seem to be a high quality German-made piece.

6. Or something as good. I could understand if it was silver, and from tiffanys
barring that, what a rip off!

9. It's funny...
they charge an arm and a leg for a product that's probably made down the street from you, but I'm sure we could find that here in The States, which is thousands of miles away, for a fraction of the price.

16. Just come to Dubai and I will show you a true over-priced Mall...
Edited on Wed Dec-29-10 07:27 AM by JCMach1
they sometimes get away with murder here...

I have seen shawls (shaylas) that go for 20AED in the normal market place marked-up for tourists at the mall for almost $1000.

Just recently they had a not very attractive Afghani (Kuchi tribe) bridal hat in a plastic case used for decorating. The price was 8000AED price from my antique dealer in the traditional souq 150AED. This is for the exact same product.
