finally getting around to the x-mas cookies

my all time favorite recipe

6 to 8 ounces of cream cheese
2 sticks (one cup) butter
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
2 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

maraschino cherries (being a tightwad, I cut them in half)
rice crispy cereal lightly crunched up with hands

350 oven, ungreased cookie sheet(s)

cream butter, cream cheese, and sugar. add almond extract. sift dry ingredients together and add to creamed ingredients. roll dough into 36 to 48 balls (or even more/smaller - this batch was 6 dozen). roll balls in rice crispies to coat, place on cookie sheet - lightly smash cherry into ball to slightly flatten and hold cherry. bake for 12 - 15 minutes.

NOTES: cream cheese comes in 8 oz packages but the original recipe only called for 6 ounces - I usually just add use the whole thing, but admittedly the texture is a little greasier. you are supposed to chill the dough for a couple hours but I never do it. you can also do half the cookies with those gross green candied cherries for a more seasonal color mix but they taste like shit, so use those for gifts. :P

2. Yum, I love those, too.
But I'm not great at cutting tiny shapes. I flour the cutters and the work surface, but I end up with crappy-looking cut-outs anyway. After awhile I end up pissed and cursing! Then it doesn't feel like Christmas anymore! :)

7. Unfortunately, no Dart Vader cut out. :(
Nah, I like them for their taste, actually, which is very sweet with vanilla and strawberries. Nomnom.

Schpitzbuäbä. Would translate to pointy boys literally, but it's just dialect for bad boy or little thug.

I love them so much I ate the entire batch of the anise flavored ones between Sunday and Wednesday. I can't stop eating them once I start. Good thing they're light and crisp without much sugar. LOL

I have a pan just like that pan, a knife just like that knife, a bowl just like that bowl, a rack just like that rack, a box of cereal just like that box, a jar of cherries just like that jar. I don't have a yellow table or a cutting board like your, tho.
