1. I'm not watching the "siphie" channel anymore.
They canceled "Stargate: Universe" and are basically getting away from science fiction. They want to start airing cooking shows :eyes:

4. Back when they changed their name to "syfy"
they announced that they were going to market to a broader audience. In other words, dumb it all down as much as possible.

One of my brothers does post-production video work and got to go to a meeting with syfy execs (a client had some bumps to pitch.) They were turned down because syfy is trying to get away from that kind of thing (paraphrasing here.)

We're seeing this everywhere now (syfy, AMC, "History" Channel, TLC) because the channel names aren't important anymore. They're only there now as a means to draw in viewers thinking they're getting something, oh, like the channel name suggests. Then they hook people on some addictive show and drop all pretenses. The new viewers then don't care about the roots of the channel, or are even against how it started, and the suits succeed yet again.

Really now, what does wrestling have to do with science fiction?

5. For those that don't know, cooking is a metaphor for metaphor thoughts.
So those are cooking shows.

Look what the Rock has cooking, for example. Although there is a pinch of 'its a cookbook' in that metaphor on metaphors.

I think Daniel and the dream solves the 'Its a cookbook' fallacy.

6. I don't think the suits at siphie are really into metaphors.
Profit, certainly, but that's about as deep as they get. And no matter how deep the cooking metaphor may be, I still won't be watching siphie any longer (other than what the DVR records of the remainder of SGU's second and, now, last season.)

Here's a good rundown of what's happening to siphie:

7. Being the Optimist. I don't worry if some try to hide things.

Seen some of that in web searches.

If the shows have a little Obi One Kanobi in them, Darth will only be making it harder for himself without knowing it, and many people will see what Darth does, and it will also help people when it is their day, and the bad emperor tries to get them to turn to the dark side.

Really interesting way to see it.

May the force be with you.

3. Thank you so much for that post.

My new years every year is to watch that marathon and try not to fall asleep and miss any episodes, thanks for posting that list, some really rare ones are shown in that marathon, and they are not edited like many times when shown.

I can pretty much replay most of those just from looking at the titles now, Think I have seen all those episodes, although they don't always have the answers in them also, many have both questions and postulations on answers.

My favorite is The Obsolete Man, after that probably Eye of the Beholder, and Number 12 looks just like you.

Some other really good ones on that list. Little Girl Lost was inspiration for poltergeist I think, but with some changes. Time enough at last is good also, been there also :)

Old man in the cave is good also, but had to think on it a long time. Since by definition that would include most of the TZ episodes, making it a paradox, from that paradox it changed the meaning of that episode a bit.

The guy who was afraid to eat the tins, ended up alone. Maybe everyone else did not die. Really deep thought on many concepts in that.

Some are missing from that list, Monsters on Elm Street, that is a pretty good episode. Also a few others, don't think they have the civil war episode in that list. Don't see the one about the lady that returned to her home town to stop them from being hurt in a plane crash either.

Pitch for the angels, Love that one also. Not sure if Redford's episode is in there either.

9. "It's a Good Life"
A Rod Serling teleplay based on the Jerome Bixby story

Something this dark and heavy wouldn't have a chance of appearing on TV these days.

10. I think you made a typo there...

...looks like it ends on January 2nd at 5:30am, not January 1st!

This is an awesome list, though... I've never seen the "To Serve Man" episode even though it is widely referenced in popular culture. I'll have to see if I can catch it!

Awesome work! :yourock:
