Who else besides me hates black eyed peas?
I know it's a new years tradition to eat them but I really cannot stand them, and my wife hates them as bad as I do. x(

So several years ago, she started a new tradition. Every new years eve she cooks up a huge pot of the most bodacious jambalya, it's beyond belief how good it is. I'm on my 4th bowl today :wow:

12. We watched ABC's New Years Eve show. And Fergie is just scary looking...
I mean she made Dick Clark almost look normal.

2. Some people cook black eyed peas too much
My grandma cooked em until they were metallic mush.
I found out later that they are good if not cooked too long.

3. You win.
I never had black eyed peas until I came to Texas, and dammit I just don't like them. x(

Jambalaya, on the other hand, is God's own ambrosia, and I'd trust it for good luck in the new year WAY more than B-E-Ps.

5. Ambrosia is a good way to describe
The jambalaya my wife makes. It takes her about 10-12 hours or more start to finish to make the gourmet jambalaya she makes.

I actually found the base recipe she started from, it was in an old Frugal Gourmet cookbook my mom gave her years ago. I did some googling and found the recipe posted online :)

7. I don't hate them, but...
I don't go out of my way to make them. That being said, I'll buy them if they're on a really, really, really good sale, and make "hummus" with them.

13. I really enjoyed "Where is the love"
Edited on Mon Jan-03-11 09:44 AM by JonLP24
Haven't heard anything since that I like. I do enjoy a couple of Fergie's solos though. I haven't listened to every track on any cd they've made so I can't say if I "hate" them or not.
