She's a beautiful woman and I am lucky to have her. However, except for a brief shoulder-length period about 5 years ago, my wife has had long down-the-back hair since I first met her about 20 years ago. And last week when she had her hair cut in a style that barely covers her ears.

The new hair-do suits her. She loves it and it does look good. And yes, she warned me about her plans. But... it's going to take some time to get used to it.

Is there some kind of support group I could join?

1. Awww...it can be weird to adjust.
I whacked off 8 inches of mine a while back...it needed it..I'd been sick and it was unhealthy...but I am soooo glad its growing fast.

Change is good, yes? Especially if it makes her happy. :)

10. She looks like Ripley in the 2nd one, actually
Maybe that's where she learned ass-kicking, on the starship Nostromo! :-)

12. Cute!!!
Both pics are great, but I'm partial to short hair on most women. I've been rocking the Demi Moore look (from Ghost) for years. I tell you one thing - it's much easier to get ready in the morning! :)

3. Good for her!
Women who dare to rock short hair is usually confident and full of life! I had long hair for a long time but recently went short... I look years younger :) (I'm 43 and I got CARDED the other day! yeah!)

4. My wife recently did the same...
And I love being able to run my fingers through it...
And not finding some type of hairy critter in the bath tub drain...
My little girl ran screaming out of the tub once after pulling up some of momma's
shed hair up out of the drain!
:scared:

5. Tell her you're getting over it by pretending you're having an affair with a short haired woman
I guarantee you won't have time to worry about superficialities like hairstyles after that.

7. are you a man, lucky? i'm a bit stumped and puzzle-i-fied
Edited on Wed Jan-05-11 11:46 PM by pitohui
do men even know that women have hair???

once i dyed my hair green, husband noticed nothing, although my parrot had a few wisecracks

i recently cut my hair, people i hadn't seen in years came out of the woodwork to make comments but, as far as i know, my hubby has never noticed a thing

i can't picture the man who even knows what his wife's hair looks like...that's my entertainment of the evening, i guess...trying to picture a husband who actually knows how long his wife's hair is!

:-)

8. Green hair? Parrot?
Have you seen what happened when a man wearing a green shirt is observing a large rare parrot in the jungle?

13. yes. i cut four inches off not long ago. he didnt notice. i have to catch his quarter inch
haircut every three or four weeks, or i dont love him, damn good thing i am good. when i brought this to his attention, he said no way. you didnt cut off four inches. grab the hair i cut, he got a ruler, right at four inches. lol

shame on him

actually, it is a good thing. he buys me clothes about 4 sizes too small. how he sees me in his eyes, is grand... all the time. regardless of a bad hair day. lol. lets me off the hook, much more than what i was conditioned with all these years growing up. wouldnt it be a bith if hubby noticed EVERYTHING, lol. i figure it is better him not noticing anything.

15. I'm not very stereotypically "Man" (not many of us assume a nom de plume including "Mom")...
.
.
.
.
...but I DO fit the "unobservant" mold.
.
.
.
With my ex, I would generally notice a change in hair length/style, but I
can't begin to count the times I would walk in the front door at the end
of a workday to hear my wife expectantly ask, "Well?"
.
The dreaded, "Well?"
.
.
.
I would look around DESPERATELY, trying to spot whatever change she
was so proud of. Clothes? Art? Did she rearrange the entire living room
again and I'm just not seeing it?
.
.
.
Knowing the clock was ticking, I would eventually blurt out my best
guess -- knowing that I was, once again, hopelessly clueless. I could
rarely ever see what was so obvious once pointed out to me.
.
.
.
Pouted out to me.
.
.
.
I hated disappointing her like that.
.
.
.
But she DID have an adorable/hot pout.
.
.
.
The "unobservant make-up sex" was phenomenal.
.

.

11. Um, support whatever your woman does with her hair
It's an expression of individuality, really. I got so sick and tired of hearing my ex comment about how I was using henna and cassia on my hair - not much, really, just for conditioning, but he thought it was outrageous and never let me hear the end of it. It seems like such a small thing, but it really contributed to a lot of discord. My hair is important to me - it's almost waist-length now and I take care of it. But the attitude of the partner - oh, and the family - can make a difference.

In the long run, it's her hair. Enjoy her freedom with it. There are women out there who do not have that choice, sad to say. Revel in her loving it, cause that's what she wants.

14. Just tell her you like it.
That's all she wants to hear. My (ex) hubby would ask me constantly why I wear my hair so short. Drove me crazy.
