Poll question: How do you define "Bisexual"?
Edited on Wed Mar-31-04 08:34 PM by dolo amber
Just curious...searching around for scholarships; one of the categories was *bisexual*...not entirely sure how to answer that.

1. I identify as bisexual...
...because I have the capacity to have full, loving, romantic and sexual relationships with either gender. I think this is slightly different from being actively attracted to either gender because even tho I still feel attractions to both genders, I'm in a monogamous relationship so I don't act on those attractions.

3. Hmmm....good answer
I didn't want to answer the scholarship question dishonestly, but I agree with your definition. I didn't wanna intentionally claim to be something I'm not out of desperation to get back into school, but going by that answer, it doesn't seem like I would be, eh? :D

Thanks, Rene! (How are you feeling these days, btw? :hi:)

5. You're welcome.
I've been very sick, and the pregnancy is a little hard on my poor pelvis. But I'm back in physical therapy, and the baby is doing fine. I'll find out the sex next week!

:D

18. Sounds good, rbnyc
People who have a non-romantic attraction to one sex can label themselves straight or gay, depending on which sex they have the meaningful attraction to. It seems some celebs find it cool to say they wouldn't rule out women - that's how Natalie Portman is, IMO. These celebs are probably straight. I don't have a problem with people like this labeling themselves bi, though. Whatever they feel comfortable with is fine.

2. Regardless of what your gender is...
Edited on Wed Mar-31-04 08:37 PM by DarkPhenyx
...and regardless of which sex you are primarily attracted to, if you have a desire to have intimate relationships with members of both sexes then you are bi. It isn't an either or thing. It's much better understood on the Kinsian sliding scale of sexuality.

Three are very few people who are actually 100% Hetro, or 100% Homo. There are even fewer that are 100% bi.

9. A gay male friend of mine used to use the term...
"lust factor," Some people toy with bisexuality, but have a lust factor that leans one way or another.

10. Interesting concept.
Edited on Wed Mar-31-04 08:47 PM by DarkPhenyx
I have a very good friend who is so female oriented that she will, eventually, end up in a stable monogomous relationship with a woman. She used to self-ID as a lesbian. She also, on occassion, has a serious need for a man. Lucky for me I am the guy she trusts enough to share that part of her with. We have, after long discussion, come to the conclusion that she is a very fem-heavy bi. Just like the guy who is primarily attracted to women, but occassionally really enjoys sex with another man.

Just my opinion.

17. Welllll....
I will cautiously suggest that she might feel more comfortable with women and politically may prefer the idea of being with a woman, but may have more of a lust factor for men? I may be TOTALLY wrong here, but just thought I'd toss out that idea.....

Or maybe I'm just being a troublemaker....

8. I picked choice 3
I think one of the meanings of sexuality is action so I think if someone is actively pursuring relationships with both sexes them are bi-sexual.

21. None of the above
Some one is bisexual if they say they are bisexual. I'll leave it up to the individual to make this determination for themselves.
