2: Jesse Helms for Senate

3. Confederate flag in back window and on front license plate (I passed him and saw that in my rear-view mirror).

6. They think that if they vote with and for the rich, their lot will improve
There is also a great deal of stupidity and ignorance involved, the kind Faulkner epitomized with the Snopes family.

8. Gayle, you hit the nail on the head.
They are poor racist suckers. Nixon played them like a Stradivarius. Are they more to be pitied than scorned? They don't know the difference. They really don't.

10. That is the truth!
The Neo-cons have got these people fooled into thinking that they are "good Christians". They are also fooled by the "low taxes" mantra. They are getting played by the Republicans and they don't even know it - worse yet, they approve! They deserve their rogering!

9. For a good article on why working class people vote pug
read the current issue of Harper's Magazine....

Lie Down for America
How the Republican Party sows ruin on the Great Plains
Thomas Frank

Basically the article says the Republicans run on culture war issues but once they are in they do little on those issues. Abortion remains legal and little is done regarding decency issues. What they do is promote a big business agenda that runs counter to the interests of working class people.

Excellent article. Too bad Harpers doesn't put their stuff up on the web.

11. It's the Cargo Cult syndrome...
They've had years of the ReTHUGS and Pfleghmball telling them that all they have to do is put in 70 hours a week flipping burgers and vote ReTHUGlican, and SOME DAY, they too, will be rich beyond their dreams. Carnegie started out with a Dime, Horatio Alger wrote documentaries, Why, even El Gush-bo hisself was once a poor, under-employed (no talent) Dee-Jay in Philly (until the local "scene" got too "hot") before he became "The TRUTH Deflector".

They keep voting ReTHUG, waiting for the Cargo to come.

The other side is that the repubs use wedge issues to get these votes and the lower and middle classes also tend to be socially conservative and they vote on the social issues more than the economic issues. I wish more would vote with their pocketbook.

17. They are Republicans because they are racists.
And they are racists because they are lower class and they need to feel superior to someone.

12. ROFLMAO!
I WANT THOSE as bumperstickers! I want one that says "By George, it's Time for Another American Revolution!" Especially since we have another King George ruining our country, just like the colonists had to deal with.

On the back of a Toyota pickup. It blew my fragile little mind.
