It's the Shrubhater and Liberalhistorian show, ask us anything! |
|
As you might know, liberalhistorian is my mom and got me onto this site. We're sitting here together, so ask us anything! I've gotta go to bed soon, though, so make it quick!!

10. Thankfully, nothing happened at work Monday. |

I guess the pharmacist I worked with on Saturday didn't think the complaint he got about my driving was a big enough deal to report to the store manager.
Just to reiterate: I didn't mean to cut that guy off! It was completely unintentional. :eyes:

so I did. I use to love those pajamas that were all fuzzy and were one piece with the feet pads attached. I had a blue one. They were so cool and comfortable.

|
actually, even in the winter. I don't like heavy pajamas, I get hot real easily.

Yes, I really do own all that music. And, my collection covers almost the entire history of recorded sound! The oldest recordings in my collection were made in the 1880s.
As for where I put them: let's just say, my three-room apartment is pretty damned cluttered!

Unfortunately, they're mostly what was known as "coon songs," in which white singers "impersonated" African-Americans in an unbelievably racist way. Here are some sample titles:
"If The Man in the Moon Were a Coon" "The Coleville Coon Cadets" "Ma Pickaninny Babe" "Nigger Loves His Possum" "(I Wish I Were White and Not a) Coon, Coon, Coon"
The truly disturbing thing is, back when those songs were recorded, they probably weren't considered racist! :scared:

25. Mind you, in my collection, that music is the exception, not the rule. |
|
My favorite genres include '50s rock 'n' roll, '60s soul music, '70s punk and funk, and '80s new wave, among others.

28. My jazz collection is comparatively small--but it's damned good! |
|
I really dig be-bop (Charlie Parker, for example), big band jazz (Benny Goodman), the singers (Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Eddie Jefferson), and vocalese (Manhattan Transfer; Lambert, Hendricks & Ross).
As for classical, I've never developed an interest in it. But who knows? It could happen someday!

32. Grades 5-8 were pure hell for me. |
|
I was an A and B student, but because of my gentle-looking face and non-belligerent nature, I was a target of severe ridicule and abuse from the jocks, cheerleaders, and assorted white-trash losers at school.
Boy, was I glad to get to high school! I have no fond memories of junior high at all.
Hope school is more tolerable for you, S.H.

But he's not too fond of social studies -- he seems to prefer science and foreign languages.
I'm glad you're here and I hope you visit frequently. You'll learn a lot, and it's fun!
