6. That is really the only surprising thing about this game |
|
Hasselbeck is having a terrific game, which hasn't been the case most of the season. Making some really great throws, the one to the TE where he anticipated where he would be right before taking a shot. That floater over double coverage to Mike Williams.

Hasselbeck was looking in the rearview mirror. Whitehurst was great in the Rams game, ready to go.

|
Edited on Sat Jan-08-11 09:45 PM by JonLP24
I'll agree the Saints had the best chance of winning but I didn't understand the mindset they were going to get stomped or IOW, they had no chance. The Saints lost to (my team) Arizona, which is a team a Seattle swept. They also lost to Cleveland which is a good team. They run they ball well and play good defense. They also defeated New England. The Browns run the ball well and play good defense, they just haven't found a passing game. They also nearly lost against Cincinnati, where they needed a late touchdown at the end of the game to take the lead to win.
Plus I think Seattle has talent. Good receivers in Stokely and Mike Williams. They have a very good lineman that they drafted this year whose name escapes me. Tatupi, Trufant, and Milloy on defense. They also got some talented young players with Curry from Wake Forest and Earl Thomas from Texas. The thing that was surprising was Hasselbeck playing very, very well when that performance was hiding all season. :)
Also I forgot to mention, the home field advantage. One of the best in the NFL.

was pretty blinded by that < .500 record. If you could see past it to the analysis above, then I want to subscribe to your newsletter next season... :)

Holy cow, that run by Lynch was every bit as good as John Riggins run to win the Super Bowl.

22. Put it up there as one of the greatest, if not the greatest |
|
upsets in NFL history. I know the line wasn't up there like the Jets and Colts Superbowl, but a team with a losing record beating the previous year's champion in the playoffs - that's pretty damned note worthy.

27. If they don't go to 18-games |
|
Edited on Sat Jan-08-11 09:16 PM by JonLP24
They play all the teams in the NFC North division because they played the NFC West this year, NFC East last year. The also play the AFC South because they played against the AFC North this year, East last year, and the AFC West the year before that. Aside from their own division (6 games) they played the #2 teams that finished in their standings because New Orleans finished second in the NFC South. So that is St. Louis and NY Giants. They will be already playing Green Bay thru their match-ups against the NFC North.
Again their is a lot of uncertainty going into the off-season but if they stick with the same schedule formula, that is who they will be playing against. We usually know who teams are playing next year right when the regular season is over. The dates and times don't come out til much later though.

28. Depends on who wins between Green Bay and Philly, I think |
|
If Green Bay wins we get Chicago.
If Philly wins we get Atlanta.
I think... Might have that backwards, I don't know.

The idea is to give the #1 seed (Atlanta) the best match-up for them to win. Philadelphia is #3 as division winner with best record so if they win, they play Chicago so they match-up Seattle the #4 seed as 4th division winner so they play the #1 seed. It reverses when Green Bay wins because they are the #6 seed, wild card with best record.
Got Green Bay's seed wrong. Seattle defeated the #5 Wild Card team.

35. Still a little shocked. |

My expectations were very, very low, so this is very cool. Now it's time for another disrespected Northwest team -- Oregon -- to beat another over-hyped Southeast team -- Auburn. Less than two days to go for the big dance.
