Do your cats dream?
I've seen and heard dogs dreaming, but just now I saw and heard my cat Lucky was asleep and dreaming.

I saw her paws twitch and she was mewing, with her face buried in her front paws.

Then she started, and was looking around looking dazed, so I petted her. :loveya:

1. Yep
Jasmine sleeps the sleep of the dead, but Clover (the neurotic pisspot) twitches and yowls in her sleep. I think she's reliving the times Jasmine beats the shit out of her (on average of twice a day).

3. Yes; you can see them twitch and sometimes they make little squeaks.
I don't know what they dream about, but it probably involves world domination. Or lots of fresh meat. Or both.

6. Yes, one of mine even had a nightmare once.
She was lying on the couch out cold and then leaps up out of her sleep, yowling, and runs around the house. Don't quite know how to explain that other than a nightmare!

9. Oh yeah, I totally believe that cats dream
Mine all sleep on my bed - doesn't leave a lot of room for me, but eh - so I can observe all 6 of them in various states of sleep. Paws twitching, little mews, deep snores, tails going back and forth. I'd love to know what they're dreaming about . . .

On the other hand, perhaps I don't want to know.

10. Uhh. They spend 18 hours a day sleeping. Why do you think they
spend all that time sleeping??

11. Researchers say cats do experience REM sleep and presume that they also dream.
Even without the science, I would guess that The Wiley and Excellent Boy Cat Named Ginger dreams because of his meowing and sometimes fighting or hunting behaviors when he sleeps. Once, he was sleeping by my head, and started doing the tail switching thing and meowing as he would when warning another cat. Then he boxed the crap out of my head without ever opening his eyes. I'm pretty sure he was having a hunting or confrontation dream.

19. Well, to Ginger's credit, he didn't have his "spikes" out when he boxed the crap out of my head.
That's what my mother-in-law calls Ginger's claws, ie, "Your cat loved me up with his spikes out again and now I have scabs all over my shins," "Could you talk to Ginger about keeping his spikes in?" and "Ginger dug his spikes into my carpet again this morning! What are you and he going to do about this?"

14. Those episodes you call "sleep" are when they are in
communication with The Big Giant Kitty in Alpha Centuri. Soon, humans, soon...

18. I think they do sometimes.
I've seen them move their paws slightly. I wonder if they are dreaming about catching mice or being cute or something completely different.

She is cute, but dumb as a board.
