I'm a member of another forum, and we're talking about changing site hosts

Is there a way to transfer the existing contents of the forum to a new site, or do we lose everything if we change sites?

(We've got, like, 200 PAGES of threads that would be eaten if we changed hosts.)

1. The short answer is: maybe.

It depends on the following factors, just off the top of my head:

The language used for the pages in question.
Language support of the new site host.
Current access to source code.
Database compatibility (if any is used).
Upload features of new host.

I've migrated site hosts before, and quite successfully, but it's not something you want to just hope for.

We're currently on Yuku, and I was wondering if we could get our own domain name and shift all the stuff from Yuku.

We'd pick new board software for the new site.

6. You might look at IPower.

I've had decent luck with them for several clients. It might be overkill for what you're trying to do, but then again that might make transition easy...

7. Why not ask the admins or the computer forum
