We make regular charitable contributions to charities we feel are worthwhile, but every now and then we make a contribution to an organization that then proceeds to bug the living s#!^ out of us. The latest is Doctors Without Borders. One contribution and they won't stop calling, emailing, and snail mailing us even though we've requested that they stop.

I know the ACLU isn't a charity, and I agree with most of the things they do, but I swear that they have spent more money trying to get additional donations out of us then we gave to them in the first place.

...is because they were asked. It's important for organizations to ask for support, again and again.
That said, if you've requested not to be contacted and they still mail and call, that's irresponsible.
