1. Truly their best song: even they think so.
It's interesting that certain bands have these anthems (Like Stairway to Heaven, or in the Beatles' case, all of Sgt Pepper's) and their other bodies of work are far better. (In the Beatles' case, Rubber Soul and Revolver). I read a long time ago that Plant is prouder of Kashmir than all their other songs.

I saw them 4 times on the great 77 tour, and they really showcased that song. Plant was so beautiful back then, and he was backlit with cyclic lighting during the instrumental interludes. We girls were almost passing out in bliss!!

3. I saw them twice at MSG in New York, once at the erstwhile Forum LA
and then again at Day on the Green here in the Bay Area. I had been living in London, and Zep was the only major band I'd not seen in concert. If you recall, Robert Plant had been in a bad car accident in Greece in 76 and they had stopped touring while he recovered. When they started again, they left immediately for the States, and we knew we'd never see 'em if we didn't come here. So I moved back home to SF, worked till June, then grabbed my 2 friends and we drove across the country to see 'em in the Garden. Then when we got back home, my other friend had scored us tix to the LA gig, so off we went there.

Great times! (and it cost us 60 bux for gas to go from SF to NY, if you can believe it!) Just last week I was watching the telly and the Foo Fighters in Wembly doing a great job on Rock and Roll. Dave Grohl was channeling his inner Bonham, and the vocals were awesome. Then I noticed this little troll with long white hair on the Gibson playing lead and thought: "Who's the gnome?"

Finally figured out it was Jimmy Page. Wow. Time truly waits for no one!

4. Certainly
Seeing Page with white hair in "It Might Get Loud" was odd. He plays great and is a HUGE resource of info for Jack White and The Edge. Almost felt as if they were probing his mind. They knew who was glowing in that room?

Anyway, reason I asked about the 77' tour, my brother and his friends went to one of the four Capitol Center shows. They still talk about it while rubbing it in that I didn't get to go. I was five and the moms was not about to let her baby go to that decadence:)

During the holidays we actually found a person on youtube that had a boot of that complete show. My brothers hair stood up on his arms when Page hit the opening chord.

Very cool! It was wonderful to see:)

Wish we were ALL there. Man, how times have changed?

5. Yeah, five is a little young to go to an arena concert!
But I hope you don't feel as if you missed out: I think some of the 90s bands are right up there with the 60s and 70s. Can't believe I first heard Live and Pearl Jam almost 20 years ago!

6. Well, I did see them.
But it was in later years. We went to the Page/Plant bit in I think 1998. They were supporting Walking Into Clarksdale. They played quite a few Zeppelin tunes, which was wonderful to see.

That was the Jacksonville show, by the way.

10. That was a great tour.
It's funny, cuz a few years ago, I saw a young twenty-something wearing a Zep 77 tour tshirt. (I had an original, but it's long gone.) I told him I'd seen some gigs on that tour, and at the time had no clue it would in effect become their (pardon) Swan Song. He kinda rolled his eyes and gave me the Whatever, Grandma look. One of 2 reactions: the other being the realization that Grandma isn't some boring old lefty but maybe had a sordid past.....

I still listen to alt rock, only because it's the bastard child of all the music I loved in the 60s and 70s. There are some great bands out there now.

"Kashmir" is most definitely my fave Led Zep song. I noticed a recent photo of Jimmy Page in the news feed and my first thought was, "He looks pretty good considering, but DAMN he was such a beautiful boy.". I thought Plant was hot, but Page was smouldering...

9. Yeah, he was definitely the dark star to Plant's shining sun.
They totally played that up, which is how so many of us chicks loved them!
