What is the best lifestyle you have ever lived. Me I like to work so it would
have to be a job I had at a tea house on top of a mountain in lake louise. We worked our asses off all day and then sat down to a lot of wine and a hearty meal at night. Was great.

The best lifestyle I've ever heard of is a job my brother had in Australia when he traveled in asia. He'd wake up and hang at the beach with friends all day. He'd go into work at a fancy restaurant at 6PM where his job was to put whip cream on deserts and he got to eat all the profiteroles he wanted. Then once the restaurant closed he go out with friends and drink. Next day, the same thing.

1. I don't know. It's been chaos since I was 9.
If there's a good lifestyle I have yet to find it.

2. I liked my kibbutz life for a while.
And I could've stayed. But intellectually, there was nothing more to offer. Plus, I'm not Jewish, so I'd always be an outsider even being an insider. Perhaps, if I paired up with an Israeli chica....but all my women were Europeans. So I have the memories.

3. Writing for a local rock magazine in the eighties.
I had a regular job with hours from 12:30PM-9:30Pm, then I was off to the rock clubs. I reviewed shows and recordings, interviewed bands. Had a blast hanging out in the local rock scene. I couldn't do it today, but I do miss those days.

4. I loved playing with various bands over the years, but now I really love being retired
and just spending time at home doing what I want. It's the first time I have actually felt free in my life.

7. Ah, my old hangout!
I went to college in San Antonio in the late 70s and drove to Austin to see some acts at the 'Dillo.

All the classical people I saw performed in San Antonio, all the rock/jazz acts I saw in Austin.

They tore down the 'Dillo and put up some useless bank building. I remember the Marimont Cafeteria off South Congress that I think it was close to.

I liked being a child. I had very few responsibilities, lots of leisure time.

10. when I was young and in the Air Force
I worked in the comm center. We had several jobs, but I was excellent at typing up messages on the DSTE equipment (manual teletype that produced paper tape for transmitting the messages). Actually, the best ever on the base, over 120 WPM.

We had a problem in that shift change took 2-3 hours due to all the crypto stuff in there. This was also the time (1600 hrs) that everyone dropped off their messages to be transmitted. So there was a huge backlog of messages that would take all night to clear.

I had an idea, and I sold my boss on it, and it worked. I didn't come in until noon, and just typed until 2000 hours (8 PM). I didn't have to screw around with the crypto stuff or anything else, just typing.

So, 19 years old, working from noon to 8. I got off in time to go party late into the night, slept late, got up and ate, and went to work doing something I was very good at.

12. my current lifestyle is pretty fantastic...
I am enjoying being a stay at home mom, home improvement guru. For the first time in my adult life I have the luxury of being able to stay home and focus on my kids and our new house. I don't think I could do this for years, I look forward to finishing my MPA and getting back into the workforce, but for now, this is bliss
