Help me find the Artist who did this song>> |
|
The tune is Summertime. the classic (Summertime and the livin' is easy...)
But it's the version that was sung who a fast beat and a big band plus was played a lot on top 40 radio. The singer (I think) was Black or sounded black.
The key is at the last verse...He slows down and sings> "Don't cry little ba-a- by...do-oo-on'd..repeat 4x.. you cry and then does a flutter with his voice...and then shuck..shuck..ect..with big band stops..
Thanks :)

He sang it at my Senior Formal in 1970; he had a top 10 hit with it. There have been other versions. Stewart was a big man- probably 350 pounds as I recall.

11. That long version is amazing isn't it? I remember the shortened AM version as a teenager |
|
and that was amazing enough. Had never heard the full version till a few years ago. Coincidentally, heard it (full version) on our local AM oldies station just this afternoon.
