Yesterday, a family lost a daughter, 19, in a horrible senseless accident.
And I lost my first student.

2. She was killed by a train. I have never had a current student pass away.
A hard-working, smart and lovely young woman.

3. so sorry, mix
horrible

make sure you let her family know your thoughts; sometimes it helps if you write them a letter with your memories a few months later

4. This is a very small community, she was deeply loved here.
It will be very hard for us in the coming days.

Thank you for your kind thoughts.

6. Sending hugs your way.
It is hard to lose a student. I have had it happen twice in the same school year.

7. My dear mix...
Words are so inadequate right now...

We usually joke around and play here...and now I feel how painful a time this is for you and your whole community...

My deepest condolences...

Safe passage to her...

A pall has fallen over our village. I cannot imagine how difficult it will be for us to return to school tomorrow. Our student body is less than 200.

A smart, kind and tolerant young woman, gone. I still can't believe it.

10. That really sucks, I'm sorry.
I've never lost a current student, but I have lost former students and others in the program, and it's pretty shocking. Best of luck...

11. So sorry to hear that. Very difficult when a young person passes.
We lost a young friend of the family the day before New Years Eve. The funeral was so sad, so many kids there.

Good thoughts and prayers to the family, the community, and to you.

13. Whistler162, while I understand what it is that you're saying
in your post, I feel it's inappropriate and more information than the OP intended to give. The OP is grieving. You've also identified the town where the OP lives. It would have been enough to just reply with condolences or leave the thread unanswered.

just my 2c.

15. Thanks.
It is easy to criticize the mistakes young people make and I had hoped to avoid this type of discussion.
