2. They may look kitschy and silly, but compare them to 95% of today's popular acts.
ABBA could sing in very good four-part harmony without needing some sound engineer to run the vocal tracks through pitch correction software.

That, and a lot of their songs are catchy.

Am I fanatical about them? Hell, no. But given the choice between hours of ABBA and hours of Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, and so on, who do you think I would pick?

3. +1
25 yrs from now, Justin Bieber will be just another washed-up child star - just getting out of rehab (for the third time), being sued by one of his ex-wives, and pathetically trying (yet again) to restart his dead career.

And Abba will be blaring in the homes for many senior citizens.

has mastered the earworm.

(They dressed according to the uniform of the times.)

5. "Mama Mia" is the most cheerful, upbeat song ever written about an abusive relationship.
Didn't know that, did you?... B-)

10. Nice legs.
I imagine that's what I thought then, too. Then, as now, I would barely have noticed the two guys standing there.

15. If you were familiar with the Grand Prix de Eurovision song contest, they wouldn't seem so strange.
Perhaps the most interesting thing is that it was ABBAs dominance in the late 70s was likely a major impetus behind the decisions of the publics of some countries to start nominating bands and songs that were critical of the entire contest and the music system it represented.

16. Something about Onyetta could almost drive me nuts. I couldn't
listen to them very much. I couldn't look at her or think about her; it would hypnotize me. It was impossible to escape their music.
But look at some of the songs. Some are so touching. And others just plain fun.
They used the same "wall of souund" in their instrumentation as did Phil Spector, which was so successful.
Oh, oh, I feel a little bit of Dancin Queen coming on.

Hey, if you thought those costumes above were funny, try this one.

Or Chiquitita? It always brings a tear to my eye.
