I haven't had access to it for a while and just today turned it on and was shocked to see commercial breaks.
Does anyone know when/why this happened?

I don't know when that started, but I do know Absolut Vodka has been a long-time sponsor.
Are they doing breaks within the movies now?

I noticed a commerical break while watching "office space" and had to check to make sure I was on IFC... Pissed me off, not too many cable stations worth watching any more.
