She's in some honky tonk
tonight I know

She's dancing where the music's loud and lights are low
In a crowed bar she likes to hang around
And as long as there's a honky tonk, she'll never settle down

So close up the honky tonks, lock all the doors
Don't let the one I love go there any more
Close up the honky tonks, throw away the key
Then maybe the one I love will come back to me

I wish I had the power to turn back the time
And live again the hours when she was all mine
But it hurts to see her running with that crowd down
And as long as there's a honky tonk, she'll never settle down

1. That song has the presumption of knowing what is best for another person.
It has the concept of removal of items to stop an action, not the argument of why those ideas are bad.

It is not education, it is coercion, most of the time that is because the reasons can not be argued.

And since that seems like a song hint.

2. Well, "it wasn't God who made honky tonk angels." Just so you know.

Yeah, does sound like the singer needs Al Anon. :hi:

And I am due beer and travel money, and that has nothing to do with drinking.

And the rules of Mormonism and Islam that say drinking is wrong is about nanny state, not about the spiritual. It is for easier control over society since some have a problem when drinking. That is a slippery slope that would end up with people covered head to toe in dress to protect society, or chained to cubicles or in prison like work camps.

That is a societal edict without care for the people in society, only to make the 'machine' of society easier to run and more efficient for some with limited power. It is against human people for a few people.

And many of those few people don't follow any of those rules because they know they mean nothing. Unless they follow them for show as pretenders.

The Pretenders - I'll stand by you <- I don't think they are pretenders.
