Greece. Give me some travel advice. |
|
Edited on Wed Jan-19-11 09:42 PM by UTUSN
When? March, April?
Travel/tour outfit? (ON EDIT, I mean, a commercial/retail trustworthy travel agency?)
Just want local, ONE place/hotel, not a traveling thing. (ON EIDT, I mean, just want to stay in one place, not travel around.)

Where are you planning on going in Greece? Summers are hot, but April is nice, though Greece has fairly moderate temps in general. You don't need a tour. There are so many travel agencies in Greece. Just fly in, catch a cab, the driver may still want to pick up a couple of fares, to be economical, so you may be forced to share with some Aussies, but that is just fun. They speak English in Greece, learned in grade school, so you should be fine. Get a good guide book and take yourself around. However, it can be ennjoyable to travel with a tour group, for meeting new friends, you decide.

3. I am not sure where you live, |
|
but can you find a local travel agent who specializes in travel to Greece?
The triplets' father is of Greek ancestry and many of his cousins visit once a year. I know that they use a local Greek travel agency, not sure which one, as there are many in the Chicago area because we have a significant Greek population here.
The triplets' parents went there on their honeymoon and loved it. March or April sounds good, I think May would be OK. The triplets' parents went in August and it was quite hot, though they loved it.
If you go, have a wonderful trip!

If you like museums, it's a fabulous place. I can't recall the name of our hotel, but it wasn't too expensive, and it was close to to the Acropolis. There were lots of hotels in that area. If you do decide you want to see something outside of town, it is very easy to get a tour from your hotel. We took a hydrafoil to an island, and we took a tour to Delphi, which I highly, highly recommend.
We got our hotel reservations online.

6. I always stayed in hostels, sleeping on the roof. |

Cheapest place and fresh air.
A couple times, I kipped in the old Olympic stadium, sneaking in after dark. The fist time when I was with a Swedish chick who didn't have much money. The second was when I didn't have much money.
