Vegetarian Weight Watchers Boogie 2011 |
|
I surrender my wide behind to the gods of healthy eating, and I'm starting a thread over in Health. (I'd do it here but I fear the Mighty Mods). I gots to lose some poundage. Join me... (Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling...)

I just cook up brown rice in the morning and eat it all day, as soup, stir fried with veggies, in salad, with sauce, like the Chinese. That is what many Chinese people eat for lunch and dinner, rice with sauce. It is the sauce that matters they tell me. However, they turn up their noses at brown rice.

4. You have any sauce recipes? |
|
I'll probably do something similar, though I think whole wheat pasta is good too. I'm going to try not to get too regimented because I'll just get irritable and use it as an excuse to go berserk.

I like their Black Bean Garlic Sauce, but their Hoisin and Garlic Chili are also very good. Some yellow curry stirred into yogurt with a little dijon mustard and onion powder can be good too.
Trader Joe's has brown rice Penne, it is good hot/warm, not so good cold. Central market's brown rice pasta holds up better cold, so is good for pasta salad. I use Costco's artichoke hearts, dried roma tomatoes and kalamata olives along with red onion, a little garlic powder, olive oil and vinegar and feta, to keep in the frig for when I don't want to make anything. I am so not regimented, I just try keep healthy food handy, and not healthy food usually follows Mr. Gut home.
Also, pop corn you pop in a big pan, with olive oil is a good snack.

6. Avgolemono, Greek lemon soup |
|
Oh, how I love this soup:
2 Cups garlic or vegetable broth (I have never seen garlic broth, so I just use vegetable) 1 Cup cooked brown rice Garlic powder, maybe 1/2 tsp Cavender's all purpose Greek seasoning, again, 1/4 to 1/2 tsp 1 egg about 1/4 cup lemon juice
Heat the broth, add garlic powder, Cavender's and rice, bring to boil, simmer for a bit to allow the rice to soften more and then remove from heat. Stir the lemon juice and egg together, then whisk quickly into the broth mixture until egg is cooked, soup will appear a little creamy. Enjoy, this tasty and healthy soup.

7. That sounds really good! I'll give it a try. |
|
I'm off to buy vegetable broth anyway, so will look for Cavender's.
It's going well, btw.
