I bit the pavement tonight. |
|
I went running with the dog after dark, on a country road, like I have done hundreds of times before. Tonight, I stumbled on something in the road and fell hard. I landed on my hands and my right knee. Too bad I didn't wear my knit stretch gloves, as I sometimes do on cold nights, since gloves may have protected my hands from being chewed up. The fabric on the knee of my running pants got torn, but my knee got only a little bloody, probably because there was something between skin and blacktop.
My dog was very attentive as I picked myself up from the ground, which was sweet of him. I limped back about a mile or 2 to the car. I have a photo of how bloody my R hand looked when I got home. I'll try to post it.

1. I am glad you are semi-OK |

Falling down is such a shock. Good dog, he should be attentive, you were running after him.

2. Absolutely. How did you know he runs before me? |
|
I keep him off his leash when we go running, because it's easier that way. He's a border collie / australian shepherd mix, so he tends to be all over the place on a leash.
I did have blood pouring off my hands, but once I washed the blood off, it's really only a few scrapes.

3. I think all dogs run in front |
|
I am glad your hands aren't too bad, wounds on hands are so irritating because you are always aware of them. You are lucky you got away with just a few scrapes, really.

I was aware that my hands hurt / were numb from being injured, but also when I stopped running and got cold from the outdoor temperature.

 is Jill in Arlington. I wondered if I'd ever see you 'round here!
I've fallen on my hands on the sidewalk before (because of my eye I don't see the distance right) I almost cried, like in public.

18. Wonder why that is? :) |

My Lab insisted on being in front, but he wouldn't make a walk a terrible event. He knew when to back off.
I ride bikes quite a bit and would let him pull me around a bit on it. We were just being silly, but he seemed to enjoy it :)

6. Yeah but you ran today |

I had one of those when I first started. The paperman turned around to check on me. I still have the running pants that I stitched back up.
You didn't get hurt.

That falling feeling is strange for me, time stops and I think slowly "you're.. goin.. down!... Can't stop.. it." It's weird how my brain does. I fall pretty bad sometimes too, got issues with balance and stuff. I wish I could run, I think it would teach me some grace.
Just think of how lucky you are you didn't break anything, like your teeth!

I tuck a cell phone in my pocket now when I take the dogs out back.
It is fun to be out in the dark, though!
