I never knew about the whole asparagus-piss-smell thing until I was well into my 20's. Probably because we never ate asparagus as children - that was a "fancy" vegetable.
But goddam, it's so noticeable now. Whenever the employee cafeteria served asparagus, the mens' room was unbearable.

7. I suppose if some people enjoy it THAT much |
|
Oh, you said "organic". My mind was elsewhere.
It's going to taste like shit no matter how it's farmed.

asparagus doesn't taste like shit! If it does to you then you must not be cooking it right. We're still talking about "organic", yes?

So that's moot.
I will eat organic French-cut green beans though - they're yummy.

If that is your theory on why I don't like it... :eyes:
On edit: When I said I don't cook it at all, that means I NEVER PREPARE IT IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, or FORM.

15. well you said you "don't cook it at all" |
|
that was my first clue to the concept of eating it raw.
So...are we really arguing over asparagus? :wtf: I don't mind arguing I just want to know the subject is worthy enough and right now it's not looking very promising from my point of view.

The purpose of the thread was a JOKE, and having my tastes questioned in a JOKE thread is a mite irritating. I think after 36 years, I have all the angles and possibilities on a fucking vegetable figured out.

I'm aware of the purpose of a zombywoof thread in DU.
My original post in this thread was a joke as well, then you made your joke, I said I was "ROFL" and I furthered the humor (in my own mind which obviously didn't transfer) and then it became something stupid and twisted about me supposedly "questioning your tastes". I don't care what your tastes are. I don't know you. We'll never meet. I don't care about asparagus. It was ALL a joke, not just your original post. Why are you so upset over this?
I also don't care how old you are or all the "angles and possibilities on a fucking vegetable" you have "figured out". Why would I? It's still the lounge, right? Truce much?

to humble and disparage us! You thought we couldn't find a scan For rhyming the word 'asparagus'!

And just in case you try again, On machine ancestors of Babbage We'll pre-empt your bold attempt To force us to rhyme 'cabbage'!

Asparagus isn't slimy. That is, unless you cook it into a puddle. I like my asparagus al dente. In fact, I love asparagus, so I couldn't make a choice in your poll. ;-)
