The Steelers and their rapist QB can GO TO HELL!
I'd rather support the damn Packers than a rapist QB.

5. The charge was rettracted because he's a rich white guy.
And because he showed his victim how much more Hell he could rain down on her if she didn't shut up.

Mike Tyson served six years on less evidence.

But whatever. He's free to do whatever he wants. Ain't that America.

9. he wasn't charged because the victim didn't want to press charges
I have no idea why a middle class female wouldn't want to go through a high profile case and have all your sexual secrets dragged out in court do you?

12. as it's sports, I don't expect too much...
"The charge was rettracted (sic) because he's a rich white guy..."

Post hoc ergo prompter hoc. But as it's sports, I don't expect too much from the fans. Ain't that America, too.

4. he did a terrible thing- but wasn't convicted

The Steelers as a rule are a decent team who don't tolerate that kind of behavior. I suspect that anyone else would have been traded, pronto. It's more of that "boys will be boys" crap. That being said, I hope that he may learn to treat women with respect.

6. Ben Roethlisberger
He is one man out of dozens of team members, and is not actually very well-liked by many Pittsburghers/Steeler fans. Most of the fans I know would rather have seen the Rooneys fire him after the Georgia incident, even if it meant a mediocre season.

So lest you think all of us who live in the Steel City only support rapists and thugs when we cheer for our team, let me introduce you instead to a member of the Steelers who is actually a much bigger local star than Ben: a truly class-act, beautiful human being, Troy Polamalu, who is also arguably the best defensive player in the NFL today.

From this link: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100319153539AA0p1we

"Off the field Polamalu is extremely charitable, and does a majority of it undercover so he doesn't get recognized for it. One time a Pittsburgh reporter was doing a story on homeless peoples under a Pittsburgh freeway overpass when he was surprised to see Polamalu and an entourage of people show up giving out food and clothes to all the homeless. Not wanting to talk to the reporter Polamalu did not get out of the car, but the homeless people confirmed Polamlau does this weekly for them."

8. Thanks for posting the links on Troy Polamalu
I had heard a lot of good things about him, but didn't really know any of the specifics.

Sounds like a great guy.

10. Just think it could have been a Rapist QB vs. a Dog-Abusing QB
at least the Dog-Abusing QB did his time in jail.

15. Gawsh I'm not a sports jerk, but I'm for the Steelers because I hate the redneck Cowboys
And, everybody who were contenders after THOSE, got ruled out.

So, (OBAMA and I jinked the Bears), I'm for the Steelers. I don't know who this ROTH person is. I liked the Philly and the Seattle.

Hey!1 I was in the *BAND*!1
