I was a VORACIOUS VO-FUCKING-RACIOUS reader from
the time I taught myself at age 4 or 5.

College cured me of the voraciousness (too much REQUIRED
reading), but I still love to lose myself in the arms of a
good book.

1. English Major @ San Jose State used to mean one 300-page book every week...

...and often writing a term paper on that book was part of the territory.

Full-time job, 10 hour days, then in the car for 3 lanes of completely stopped traffic on 101, rolling down the freeway with my foot doing the back-and-forth from the foot to the brake. 3 hours of night school, the drive home, up for work the next morning. But I got the fucking degree...that's all that matters.

Occasionally I had to drop a course and only take one per semester because TWO 300-page books a week was one book too many.

Getting the degree meant that I had a piece of paper that could prove that I am "educated." It also killed any interest I've had since when it comes to reading fiction. I am a voracious NON-FICTION reader...but I haven't picked up a fiction book in YEARS, since graduating.
