The bad news: my smashed-up car got totaled yesterday (dial-up warning)
The towing company is coming to pick up the car that was hit by a boat last month.

Here's a diagram of how the crash happened, according to the police report:

Notice the weird nature of this accident. It didn't make the news, but it should have, given how unusual it was.

The front end damage

Left headlights obliterated

Side view of front end damage

Grille no more

Hood dents. I can't get the hood up

Now for the good news: I'm getting another car within the week, a '99 Kia Sephia (country car)--and a stick shift that gets 35-40mpg! I test drove it and had someone I knew look at it, and it's within my price range. Today, I have to put down a small deposit so someone else doesn't get the car. And I'm making the guy do all the maintenance necessary, including changing the manual transmission fluid, before I buy the car!! :D

1. I can't tell sequence or direction from the pix
but I assume a boat got happy and did a Starsky slide across the front of your Olds. From damage+age of car I assume the car was deemed a total?

2. Unless there is rear damage...
Unless there is rear damage, thats really not that bad.

A trip to an auto salvage yard, and a couple hundred bucks, and you could have that running driving and looking decent again.

With a little luck, you might even be able to find the replacement parts in the same color. Thats an olds cierra? At any rate, thats a VERY common color.

Just by the pics, it appears you'd need:

Winshield washer fluid reervior,

Pair of headlight buckets,

Pair of new headlamps,

1 header panel,

misc nuts and bolts,

And maybe a fender. I think with a little time and effort, you could carefully pound out the fender.

One of the vehicles in the police report looks like a boat lol.
