Ok, remember when you were kid and your Mom wouldn't let you use the good scissors. |
|
I have a good pair of scissors now and nobody uses them but me.
I am tried of buying scissors that disappear or get dull.
My good pair of scissors stayed hid, they cost a lot.
This is my rant.
Now I understand my Grandmother.

2. My Grandmother had pinking shear she used for cutting patterns. |
|
You didn't touch them, she was not happy about that.
Something about pinking sears that attract children, I had my own pair.

15. that's what mom used hers for |

kept the fabric from unraveling before she could sew the seams. I remember it took her forever to find someone who could sharpen pinking shears, too.

7. You will need to get your child their tape, and even then they will ask for yours. |
|
I was always using scotch tape when I was a kid.

|
for how much my kid could go through!
and we have forbidden scissors, just like I did growing up, but many of them since my Mom was an amazing seamstress. The other thing we have, is forbidden knives. Hubbie likes sharp things, and he cooks.

22. You can buy really excellent scissors for next to nothing if they are dull. |
|
That is because the art of sharpening them is practically extinct.
Here's how to do it. Get a fine hone (oilstone), available at any hardware store or most garage sales, and then manipulate it correctly. That's the whole trick.
Use plenty of oil.
