Look what found me tonight...
I went out front to check something, and this is what I found on my patio. It was/is very friendly. I fed it, and brought it in, I'm going to let it sleep in my powder room tonight cuz it's so cold out. Don't know if I can keep it, cuz of my dogs. It's a very pretty cat and very friendly. I didn't check to see if it's a boy or a girl..

2. Please keep him/her. Inside. Dogs and cat will learn to be friends. Also check
local Vets, Ads, Humane Societies, Pounds for people looking for this dear one. Then if nada, take him for basic shots and check up then just keep him inside. He will not survive it outside for very long. You saved him.
Also, please check out Truth About Petfood website in helping you choose the best food possible.
Cute. Congrats!

9. Oh, yeah....
already thinks it's the boss...the dogs are gonna love that.

Follows me around like a puppy. And I was shocked to see it used the makeshift litter pan...I used an old tin with rice as the "litter" and it used it. I've had cats before so I knew to dig in it with the cats paw..

It's crazy friendly. I should put up flyers, in case someone is missing their baby. S/he seems very skinny to have just gone missing..

17. Actually, my icon is another cat who looks JUST like she did...
Edited on Sat Jan-29-11 01:00 PM by MrMickeysMom
... and of our 2 other "children", is my beloved Mr. Mickey, who alas, is gonna be 14 this spring. He and his sister are aging differently- she's more kitten like, and smaller.

One more thing about Mr. Mickey... I just had to have his puckery buttock examined, and found out that he has the old age disease of having the loss of elasticity down there which causes stool impactions if I don't give him his stool softener! So, not only does he get a baby aspirin twice weekly, but daily stool softener. Hey, all he needs is a Medi-cat card.

Ah... as he grows into this old boy, I look even more fondly. When you said, "love her to pieces, forever"... Well.... (gulp!) Yes, indeed.

:loveya: Love to the little feebler girl from MMM!

I think he is part Siamese not just because of his ears and shape of head but because he follows you around and is so friendly - not to mention cattitude. You are so kind to have taken him under your wing.

11. That's not crazy friendly. That's gratitude. He's happy to have
someone care for him, and give him a warm place. He understands that there are things he cannot do for himself, and he is asking for your help.
He is seeking acceptance.
He is too thin to have been anyone's pet. He was just on his last legs out there.

Your next step is to check under Kitty's tail and see if Kitty is a boy or girl. Then he/she needs a name.

18. Looks to me like you are gonna end up with a fairly big kitty.
Big paws, bigger ears, and really long legs... Yep, that looks like a kitty that is still growing. I'd bet this is a cat that isn't a year old yet, and I'd suggest feeding a kitten chow/food until a vet tells you otherwise.

Kitty looks pretty skinny to me, I'd bet he/she has been living rough for a while. Check the coat and if it is rough or matted that is another indicator that maybe it has been living without people for a while. With that longer/medium haired coat you'll be able to tell if it has been cared for anytime recently.

Good luck to you and your new house mate! Our four legged pals are an enormous gift.

Laura

PS, I love these black kitties. I have a 17 pounder in my lap as we speak!

21. I don't know your dogs or how your new friend feels about dogs...but
I'll bet if you run a "controlled introduction" you'll be just fine. Sniffing at each other under doors... holding the cat on your lap while the pooches are allowed to sniff...tethered and held by humans, of course... But of course you do need to find out if anybody's missing a cat. And if anybody does turn up to claim it, I'd ask why they left it outside in this weather.
But then, I don't believe in letting cats outside, period.

The rice as temporary litter is a brilliant idea!!!! The kitty is super gorgeous, too.
Congratulations.

22. I'm trying the slow introduction...
the cat growls at them, they whine at him. Right now I have a baby gate up at the powder room door, so they can see/sniff each other but can't get to each other. The cat is curled up in the sink, and he growls/hisses if the dogs just look at him. LOL!

I really hope they can get along. I took the cat to the vet, and he said he's been on his own for a while. I did put a comment on our neighborhoods fb page, and a few flyers. We just had 12 inches of snow, I couldn't leave him out there.

26. I think you're doing exactly right.
All dog owners should have baby gates! If the dogs are just whining and making basically frustrated noises, they'll probably be alright in time. And good for the cat, hissing.
One or two catly slices to the canine nose can work wonders in gaining respect. Bless you for taking him in.

27. Thank you for the links...
I'm doing a lot of the things they mention. I'm hoping this will be Remy's home now. I've never had issues with my cats and dogs before, but that's probably because the cat was here first, and was the boss. I'm bringing this cat into a home with two adult dogs. I'm going to give it some time, hopefully they'll be able to coexist.

If I can't keep him, my daughter is buying a house, supposed to go to settlement on 2-18, she said she'd love to take him.

Your pictures are so sweet. That's how my other cat was with my dogs, they were buddies.

He sure was fortunate to have found you! I do hope it works out with the pups. I've never had a problem, but you need to watch them closely, especially in the beginning. But my dog likes everybody and the cats don't pay much attention to him, LOL. Let us know how it's going. DU is probably the best place you'll ever find for advice about this. Actually, he reminds me a lot of the best cat I will ever know, my beloved Rhiannon... ;) :hi:

38. We lost a dog once. Came back three months later with a collar.
Someone either rescued or snatched her from our yard. We'd already grieved and everything.

Just make sure it's not someone's else's dear family. Cats are great escape artists, so someone may not even realize little beastie is walkabout until the morning.
