Anyone have a pet with chronic health issues? My big male has pancreatitus. |
|
He's on a special diet but even then he gets sick often. I'm used to it now. Poor guy. He's very happy though. He purrs all the time and we seem to have gotten closer.

1. My kitty is nearly 19 years old. |
|
The vet says she is functioning okay, but I know it is only a matter of time until her systems fail.

2. Wow. That is old. I had a cat when I was a kid that lived to be 17. All his systems failed at once. |

3. My pug has bouts several times a year. |
|
She's had it since 2008 or so. It's no fun. Basically we have to wait until she has a major explosive poop event, and then all is normal again. When she is suffering, she's shaky, and she wants to be in Mama's lap the whole time.

4. Our dog had cancer surgery last January and has been fighting off infections |
|
ever since. We think he picked up a very bad bug in the animal hospital where the surgery was done. They tested and found that it was a very rare and resistant bacteria, and he got a long series of daily injections for it, and is now taking pills daily-last one of this batch is today.
He acts like a puppy at times, and he still loves life, but he is getting old for a large dog and we don't want any more surgeries for him.

11. Wonderful that he can play late into his old age. He's one lucky pup. |

My boy is on his way out. He's 16 and has kidney disease. I'll be surprised if he last another month.

12. We may have an appointment at the Rainbow Bridge this week yet. |
|
My ginger old man is tottery this week. He nearly died three years ago with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure. The prognosis was not good, yet he has had three good years. He's about sixteen. He's been a dear, sunny cat and I heartily recommend an orange or ginger cat for the disposition.
I hope tomorrow is a better day for all our furry family members. They give us so much.

13. My old cat Turtle was dx'd with pancreatitius at age 15 |
|
Now she got pretty sick from time to time but with antibiotics and care she lived pretty happily until 17 when it finally caught up with her.
