5. It peaked at #1 in early '66.
So, I saved it for '66!

2. What a great year for music.
But no "Last Train To Clarksville"? C'mon - that was a GREAT pop song.

3. "The Swinging Medallions" -- Now There Was a Band!
LOL

"Wouldn't it be Nice" is one of my favorite pop songs of all time.

The two Dylan numbers "I Want You" and "Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again" are both top notch.

And yes, the Monkees are conspicuously absent. At least in my book. I was 12 years old and they were my band.

4. I was born in 1966
Nice to know there were plenty of cool tunes on the radio when I was but a wee lad.

7. I recall putting about half of those on our frat mixer tape.
I still love most of them... particularly "Wild Thing" and "Mustang Sally" (GREAT tunes).

8. I hate to sound like an old fart,
But they ain't making music like that any more. Look, I've continued following music--good stuff is still being produced.

However, in those days you could just turn on your AM radio & get the British Invasion, Soul, R&B, & young American proto-punks.

Yeah, the Elevators were "psychedelic"--but "You're Gonna Miss Me" is hard-core rock that has nothing to do with incense & peppermints.

10. You don't sound like an old fart.
I was *born* in 1966, and I agree with you! There simply has never been a decade (at least in America) of such unparalleled musical creativty as the 1960s. And I doubt there ever will be again. :(
