1. How do you feel about being unemployed?

I might be joining you come July 1st. I'm trying not to stress about it. But all my life it seems like I've identified people by what they do (for occupation).

5. Mixed feelings, actually.

One the one hand, I've been getting tired of this job for quite some time. On the other hand, it's been nice being able to keep all of my bills paid! :eyes:

6. Unfortunately, no.

The locally-owned drugstore chain that I've been working for since 1999 has just sold out to Brooks. And they're closing the store I work out of some time in May.

3. I'm sorry to hear that

I start my new job on Monday, and I feel very fortunate. I've been unemployed for about 7 months now, and it's tough, very tough.

If I may suggest a couple of things: keep sending the resumes out, day after day, even if it seems hopeless. Ignore the economic data on the news, at least with part of your mind. Separate your job search from the bad numbers. It always got me down. And most importantly, get people you know to hand-carry your resume to the hiring managers they know. Having someone say "please take a look at this person's resume" is of incalculable value.

4. Yikes!

My husband was laid off last July 1 for budget cuts (he had a state job). He still hasn't found a job!

I feel for you. This is a BAD time to be unemployed because there aren't any professional jobs to be found!

My heart is with you. That sucks. I hope you are able to find employment soon.

WTF? Dean, I just talked to you not even a half hour ago, and you didn't say anything! WTF is going on?????????? Did you just find out now? Can you at least get unemployment?

8. I just found out when I got to work today.

There was a letter from the owner attached to our paychecks.

I would assume I'll be able to collect unemployment.

about that! What's the job situation in Hartford right now? Will you at least be able to get unemployment?

10. I won't really know anything until later today.

The owner is coming to our store at 4:00 this afternoon for a Q&A session.

According to the letter, Pelton's is selling the pharmacies but is holding on to its homecare business. As such, I may be able to transfer to the Middletown or Wethersfield store as a homecare driver. But again, I won't really know anything until this afternoon.
