Poll question: Which "I'm at lunch" sign should I use at work? |
|
Edited on Thu Apr-01-04 01:26 PM by underpants
Nothing bothers me more than everyone who passes my door feeling the need to find out what I am having for lunch, or where I got it, and ESPECIALLY not poking their head over my desk to look at it. They KNOW that bugs me but I am trying to be nice about it.
The bold corresponds with with your options.
I'm eating go away!
I'm feeding go away!
I don't need you to come in and see what I am having for lunch or freakin comment on it good or bad
Why are you in my office? I'M EATING!!
What I am eating for lunch is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!!!
Did the look I gave you didn't tell you I don't want you in here? How stupid are you anyway?

Part of my job duties may include getting re-imbursement checks for employees.

That sucks.
If I'd hae known that, I'd have selected the EATING option.
Good luck, that's so infuriating! (been there, sympathize)

5. I got a co-worker really good the other day |
|
We all break and eat together, he's also constantly making remarks about my breasts. Anyway, I had bean soup and he looked over and said, "Oh I don't like bean soup". A few minutes later I missed my mouth and some landed on my chest and he pointed it out and offered to clean it off. I told him it was just too bad cause he had already told me he didn't like bean soup.

I know sexual harassment has to be by a person in a position of authority over you but that is just plain stupid.

Sexual harassment occurs when anyone makes the workplace hostile because of comments or other actions that are of a sexual nature. I once worked with a man who drank his lunch, then came back to the office and looked at porno sites. Seeing the images on his monitor was unavoidable because of the way our work areas were set up. We complained to management several times, and they issued informal warnings to him. Of course, the informal warnings were useless.
I finally went to a manager and told her she was risking her career because she didn't want to actively deal with the situation. The women who worked in the same area as Don were preparing to hire an EEO attorney and file suit; we had documented the times when we had complained and nothing was done.
Don received a formal notice that one more instance of this infraction would result in adverse action, and the behavior stopped.
No one has to tolerate situations like this. It is against the law.

11. Sexual harassment from ANYONE in the workplace is actionable. |

If management does not take reasonable steps to prohibit such innuendoes and references, then they are creating a 'hostile work envoronment' and can be sanctioned. It makes little difference who is engaging in such behavior - the behavior itself must be prohibited.

14. here's a sign for you... |
|
"What's today's Entre, you ask? Try: Filet of the LAST moron who asked me 'What's for lunch?'..."
Or, "What am I eating? Fetus Pig, want some?"
I hope you're paid for your "lunch hour". If not, I would suggest taking lunch off-premises, and posting a notice to the effect of "this office closed for LUNCH 12:00-1:00".
I used to eat at my desk, and I got so damn tired of the boss coming in and giving me that "Oh, you're here...You wouldn't mind if we talked about 'Strategy' would you?" shit that I left. Stopped brown-bagging it and started eating across the street where he couldn't find me.
