Rant: Air America stream keeps cutting out

2. The feed from Portland is very stable.

Although...to get Randi Rhodes, you'll have to go through WJNO, which is also a stable stream.

I have DSL so that might be the difference. A short wave radio won't help because it doesn't help with AM which is considered medium wave.

perhaps that is what you are experiencing?

They can run national ads but leave blank space for insertion of local spots.

Othewise I am listening via their site using Realplayer just fine.

I know a lot of people have been having problems w/ streaming Air America broadcasts, even when streaming from sites other than Air America's homepage, so I thought I'd post a few tips on player configuration to help out:

Realplayer config:
1) Click "Tools" and then "Preferences."
2) Click on "Connections" on the left side.
3) Press "Test connection" button (on the right side).
4) Follow instructions in the test window. This will test your connection speed and adjust it accordingly. If it doesn't do it for you automatically, change the "normal" and "maximum" settings (underneath the test button) manually to match, as closely as possible, your tested connection speed.
5) Click okay. This should do it for your RealPlayer...

Windows Media Player config:
1) Click "Tools" and then "Options."
2) Click on the "Performance Tab"
3) Deselect "Detect connection speed" by selecting "Choose connection speed."
4) Choose the connection speed that best reflects your true connection speed. (If you don't know your true connection speed, go to http://bandwidthplace.com/speedtest / and follow directions to test your speed).
5) Click "apply" and then "OK." This should solve your streaming problems with WMP.

I listening from their Web site on a Mac with RealPlayer. Only cut out one time in 2 hours.
