A McHenry County judge issued an arrest warrant Wednesday for 75-year-old Betty A. Gooch of Algonquin after she failed to show up for a court hearing.
Prosecutors, having learned she faces similar charges elsewhere, also filed a motion to increase her bond. And her defense attorney filed to withdraw from the case -- because she reportedly wrote a bad check for his fees.
A McHenry County grand jury indicted her in January 2003 after she allegedly wrote a bad check for $22,095 to buy a car in Crystal Lake. She had been out on a recognizance bond, required to post no cash.
