Sad for his passing, but you have to admire the man for an amazing life and contribution.
If I read the article correctly, I believe there are two surviving vets elsewhere in the world. That's amazing, given how long ago that war was.

My brother and I sometimes get into this stupid argument over which world war was worse, I or II. We do so even though there is no true answer there. But I have tried to tell him and others that World War I is fascinating and necessary in its own right, that paying attention only to the Second WW is not enough.
