Can anyone tell me how I can find the "answer" to a Final Jeopardy of last week?
It's driving me crazy. Something about a region whose name reflected the fact that it was settled by 3 different countries (one was Portugal).

Is there a website where I can find recent answers?

1. The answer was...
Latin America. The 2 other countries were Spain and France, iirc. :)

2. Ohhh...and I was thinking "Mahgreb" but I knew that that region was
settled by France and the word is actually some kind of native tongue spoken in one of the 3 Mahgreb nations of Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco...

3. My husband says the answer was "Latin America"
France-Portugal-Spain

On a good day he comes up with the final Jeopardy question after hearing the category.

4. I guess I didn't think of France. Which Latin American country was settled by the French?
Are they including Haiti?

6. Yes- Haiti, Martinique, Guadeloupe, and French Guiana
Latin America (Spanish: América Latina or Latinoamérica; Portuguese: América Latina; French: Amérique latine) is a region of the Americas where Romance languages (i.e., those derived from Latin) – particularly Spanish and Portuguese, and variably French – are primarily spoken

7. For some reason, I don't think of the islands as Latin America...
obviously it is more than a continent...

In addition to the Caribbean, Mexico and the Central American countries all the way down to Panama are considered part of North America, not South.

9. And that confuses me. So if Latin America is this, why is Portuguese one of the languages?
Porgugal invaded what is now Brazil which is clearly part of SOUTH America?

10. Almost all of South America is included in Latin America
save only Guyana and Suriname, I would imagine.

So we have the southern portion of North America, nearly all of South America, and a decent chunk of the Caribbean.

12. "Latin America" has kind of variable definitions- to clarify go to
this > http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latin_America > scroll down a tad, and read "Etymology and definitions".

13. The official language of Guyana is English
(formerly British Guiana) and of Suriname, Dutch. (yup, Dutch Guiana). Neither are Romance (derived from Latin) languages. Come to think of it, that leaves Belize (former British Honduras) out, too.
