7. First they tie you up (the binding part), then they send a company loyalist
who is not supposed to be a company loyalist to tell you why you will stay bound.

Actually, a neutral party listens to both sides in negotiations, and determines what can and cannot be done based on what they company can afford and what the situation is for the union workers. It is supposed to be a fair way to come to an agreement without having to strike (never a good thing unless it is resolved quickly). The problem is that whatever the mediator decides is how it is. Hopefully it works out well for both sides.
