there are more "cougars" on porn sites than there are in real life, because you have to have the perfect storm of the older woman who actually has the great career/great income and then have the change of life/perimenopause affect this woman in just this way that she now becomes interested in going after no-strings sex w younger guys -- some women lose interest in sex at this time, some become open about a different kind of sexuality (for instance, some women in mid-life come out of the closet at this age) and so on -- in the real world, there are just too many hassles involved in picking up some strange every night, esp. if you're a woman with all the safety and health issues of having sex w. an unknown strong young male

while cougars do exist, they are not common and the statement "older women are cougars" is pure double dee bullshit

i actually know exactly one classic cougar/GILF (granny i'd like to fuck -- um, that's the acronym, *i* sure don't wanna fuck her) -- as opposed to i have known many, many, MANY men in that age group who have no-strings sex w. younger women (or pay for sex w. the younger woman)
